Trump to lift federal coal ban, other green rules, next week: White House

Source: Reuters

01 MAR 2017 AT 13:17 ET

U.S. President Donald Trump is likely to sign an executive order next week that lifts a ban on new federal coal mining leases and starts the process of killing other Obama-era initiatives to combat global climate change, a White House official said.

“Rescinding federal coal leasing moratorium is part of that executive order, which has lots of different components, including the Clean Power Plan,” the official told Reuters on Wednesday by email, confirming the order was scheduled to come next week.

The Clean Power Plan is former President Barack Obama’s centerpiece initiative to combat climate change, and requires states to slash emissions of carbon dioxide.

The mines that have shut down will not be opened. New leases will not happen as costs of coal production far exceed gas and renewable sources.
Twitler is just throwing out meat for the idiots who still want to believe that regulations and rules closed the coal industry.
The poor suckers were left without jobs and the owners have moved on to other profitable enterprises.

Natural gas has driven a stake through coal's heart.

The export market for coal has been drying up as well as China has started to cut their coal use.

The only way to bring back coal is to ban fracking, which won't happen.

Burning coal is the primary source of airborne mercury. Airborne mercury settles into the soil and water where it moves into plants and fish. From there -- mainly from fish -- it moves into the human body.

Mercury in a mother's body can cause profound birth defects.

One in six women in the US of child-bearing age have enough mercury in their bodies to cause profound birth defects.

Thanks, Donald Trump, thanks.
