New Pro-Obamacare Ad Features Trump Voter
Source: Roll Call
A campaign encouraging lawmakers not to repeal the Affordable Care Act will launch two new television ads, with one featuring a man who voted for President Donald Trump.
The ads are part of a six figure ad buy from the Save My Care campaign that will run in Ohio and Tennessee, according to an advance copy of the press release announcing the ads. Tennessee is home to Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Chairman Lamar Alexander, a key player in the Obamacare debate.
Im a Republican. I voted for Trump, says a man identified as Dennis, who is featured in the Tennessee ad. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and says in the ad, The Affordable Care Act saved my life."
The ad running in Ohio features a woman named Paula, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, which spread to her brain and liver. According to the press release, the Medicaid expansion in Ohio under the Affordable Care Act helps her afford her cancer treatment.

(26,501 posts)can overcome his illness. I know from first hand experience what illness can do.
After my brother took his own life a little over 2 years ago before the cancer could tear him apart any more. This is something that I don't play around with.
Then again I knew perfectly well what compassion was all about even my relatives and friends were all perfectly healthy. I'm not one of those cold hearted fucks who doesn't give a shit about others and only start caring when it happens to me or mine.
So fucking this guy's vote. He is now (seemingly) only giving a shit because he's going through it.

And, yes, nothing like personal experience to raise awareness. Social scientists say social conservatives typically score very low on self awareness, can't take a good look at themselves.

I guess they are the only ones the filthy pricks in their party will listen to.

Dennis and people like him vote against their own best interests.

(18,124 posts)people get what they need, they will be back to "making ameriKKKa great again". I don't care about these people other than they can get those cruel POS in the Senate and Congress to take hands off ACA and save a lot that didn't vote for the racist triumvirate ruling ameriKKKa now. This guy voted for death, he might get it. I could care less.

I said right after the election, "the only solace I have in Trump's election is that the first people fucked will be the ones who elected him."

(323 posts)I don't feel for him, I don't care about his health, I have no interest in his life nor his opinion. He voted for a demagogue with full knowledge of this demagogue's lack of empathy toward anything but other billionaires and demagogues. With his vote, he indicated that he was OK with racism, OK with xenophobia, OK with harassment of women, OK with the destruction of the program that has saved his miserable life. Dennis here couldn't care less about other people, you see. He didn't give a great goddamn about the rich asshole's bombast until it affected him. Suck it up, buttercup, and eat the shit sandwich that you ordered with glee.

(27,464 posts)is a failure of the imagination. Dennis thought that because he has a job and goes to church every Sunday, he'd be immune from the same kind of disasters that plague us regular, godless folk who aren't clever or dedicated enough to have earned a barber's license. Surprise, Dennis. Shit happens, even to republicans.
I do feel sorry for him and I'm betting he'll do a better job vetting his candidate the next time he considers going to the polls.

(10,749 posts)Look, I'm sorry for your medical difficulties. We all have them. And many - most? - of the tens of millions of Americans with health care via the ACA realize that the availability of insurance will benefit them, their families, and the other tens of millions of Americans insured in the same way.
Except you, it seems.
Why don't you explain in the video why you chose to vote for a man who told you in no uncertain terms that he and his party would repeal the affordable care act.
Oh, and it looks like you're a barber. It also appears you didn't realize that some of the 11 million people he told you he would deport would be among your customers. So, not only are you going to lose your health insurance - as am I - you're going to lose your customers and maybe your business.
But, no, you weren't thinking of all that. You weren't thinking at all. You were watching Fox News. You were caught up in your racism and Islamophobia and homophobia that you didn't give a second thought to the rest of your fellow Americans or even, it seems, to your own best interests.
