White House adviser Kellyanne Conway revealed on Thursday that she refused to call herself a feminist because she is not anti-male or pro-abortion.
During an interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., Conway told the audience that the word feminist was never used in her childhood home.
I was raised to be a strong and independent woman without anybody seeing the word feminist or have any political conversation, she said. We were taught to be freethinking, independent, look at your goals. And that old saying, you can never go home is never true. Conway argued that women belong in the conservative movement, but she encouraged them not to called themselves feminists.
Its difficult for me to call myself a feminist in the classic sense because it seems to be very ant-male and it certainly is very pro-abortion, she explained. And Im neither anti-male or pro-abortion.

UPDATE
Conway To Town Hall Protesters: 'Come Up With Your Own Solutions'
By ESME CRIBB Published FEBRUARY 23, 2017, 10:32 AM EDT
White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said on Thursday that protesters should come up with their "own solutions" to questions raised at town halls held by Republican members of Congress.
"Protesting is covered under the First Amendment. That's all fine. But come up with your own solutions," Conway said on "Fox and Friends."
She blamed "a combination of people" for the large crowds and vocal criticism Republican lawmakers have faced at town halls and public events.
"Some people are upset with an election result they didn't see coming," she said. "You see people who are concerned about the swiftness of change, and I think that you've got some members heeding that call and taking their questions. I just don't hear a lot of solutions."

(56,828 posts)Feminism is only anti-male in the eyes of some conservative Republicans, mostly men.

She's my age and girls have been pushed aside for the white boys that deserve their privilege. Women in power try as hard as they can to raise other women up. But then again, women are more fair than men when looking to fill positions, it's about the work more than sex.

(11,868 posts)What we have a PROBLEM with is women who achieve power, abusing it to take the power away from other women they disagree with!
The one thing she gets right, is that she is most definitely NOT a feminist.

(9,350 posts)That statement confused me too for a while. At first I thought she must have been misquoted and had actually said, "women have a problem with men in power". Then I realized she had not been misquoted. For a short period of time I wondered if she had meant herself, but then I thought she is not in really in power. Then I began to wonder if Kelly Anne Conway had meant that Hillary Clinton had lost the election and had lost the white female vote because women (white women, because Clinton actually won the black female vote) did not want another woman in charge of the country.

(9,350 posts)Most of what she said was just a bunch of gibberish. However, the part where she claimed that feminist are making fun of women and judging them based on what they look like and what the wear was mainly false. Most feminist do not make fun of the choices women make, the way they look, or how they dress. Things like that are done by her boss and other Republican males. So, it seems she was trying to do a bit of projection. She was criticizing feminists for things her boss and his supporters do to women.

(16,963 posts)Commie conway can blather all she wants, but she is a loser on the losing side. She is another phyllis schafly, holding reins of power and trying to undermine other, competent women who would do the same, only much, much better. She is a infected sore on trump's carcass.

(14,918 posts)nothing is surprising. Poor Kellyanne. Just a month ago she was strutting around Washington in her Nutcracker costume, and now she is such a pathetic joke that she can't get an interview anywhere but Fox and Friends! As she would say, what a "delicious irony."
