Issa is a no show at packed healthcare town hall

Source: CBS

VISTA (CBS 8) - Anger erupted at a town hall on the repeal of the Affordable Care Act in North County Tuesday night as Rep. Darrell Issa, R- Vista did not now show, but hundreds of his constituents did.

Earlier on Tuesday, Congressman Issa released an initial draft of proposed legislation Tuesday that would repeal and replace the Affordable Healthcare Act, as demonstrators on both sides rallied outside his North County office.

"The Access to Insurance for All Americans Act" put forth by Issa would allow the public to buy in to the same insurance plans provided to federal employees and their families.

He said his plan would give Americans access to affordable, high quality, privately-run health insurance plans that guarantee coverage for pre-existing conditions and allow for coverage for dependents until age 26.

These are mostly just those actual constituents who voted against. So far.

Hopefully these people will gather again and request his presence again. And that more start joining them to question and demand he represent them. There should be many good opportunities to put him on constituent trial as he continues his betrayals of those who did vote for him.

As for Issa, of course. This was a lose-lose for him, so he chose what he hopes will be the less damaging course. He didn't pull himself out of his low-income beginnings by being stupid.

provided to federal employees and their families,' good options within the many plans. Most not cheap, but affordable because our employer - U.S. - shares the premium with us (the employee.)

I've thought for many years the FEHBP should be made available to the public at large. https://www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance/healthcare/

The 'pukes will probably wreck it--the Heritage Fuckdation (= kochs with one degree of separation) put out a "Blueprint" for cutting back the Federal Government that the 'puke congress is likely to follow (= get their ideas and legislation handed to them by the kochs).

FEHB is targeted for cuts because it's too good for the proles.

So, Issa is piling deception on deception.

When the 'pukes vote his suggestion through both houses of Con-gress and dump signs it, then I'll believe it.

SEC. 8925. Alternative conditions to Federal employee health benefits plans.

(c) In the administration of this chapter, the Office shall ensure that individuals covered under this chapter shall be in a risk pool that is separate from the risk pool maintained for individuals covered under chapter 89.

And the summary is full of weasel language:

Directs the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to administer a health insurance program for non-federal employees and to apply to such program the provisions governing the federal employee health insurance program to the greatest extent practicable.

Provides that no government contribution shall be made for any individual enrolled in such a plan. Directs OPM to ensure that covered individuals are in a risk pool separate from that maintained for federal employees

Employer Contributions
Members and staff are able to receive an employer contribution toward coverage purchased
through the DC SHOP. The employer contribution is calculated using the statutory formula for
health plans offered under FEHB.19 The percentage of premiums paid by the federal government
is calculated separately for individual, self plus one, and family coverage, but each uses the same
formula. According to the formula, the employer contribution is set at 72% of the weighted
average of all FEHB plan premiums, not to exceed 75% of any given plan’s premium.20 The
employer contribution to a plan for a part-time worker is generally prorated, following FEHB
program guidelines. OPM indicates that Member and staff contributions to premiums are
collected by payroll deduction and the contributions are tax preferred, as they are for FEHB
enrollees.21 After determining their monthly premium on the DC SHOP website, Members and
designated staff may use the OPM “Premium Contribution Calculator” to estimate their share of
the premium.22

Most people could not afford out of pocket costs of this plan. But increasing minimum wage so people can be paid what a representative is paid would certainly help.
