Several hundred protesters rallied outside of Sen. Mitch McConnell speech in Lawrenceburg.

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. About 1,000 Kentuckians hoping to confront U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell about policies and appointments of President Donald Trump caught up with him Tuesday at an Anderson County Chamber of Commerce luncheon, with a few of them getting inside American Legion Post 34 to fire questions.
But McConnell brushed off questions he considered hostile, including one about the recent deadly raid in Yemen and whether Trump ought to be impeached because of it.
Thank you for your speech, McConnell quipped. Is there anybody who has a question?

Eddie Kennedy, a retired teacher from Berea, said, Im here because of an overwhelming concern that so much of America is not being listened to. Im concerned were not doing enough for kids and education. Its just a nasty, depressing atmosphere that Mitch McConnell is a part of.
McConnell acknowledged the protests as he began his remarks to about 90 ticket holders inside.

Woman grilling McConnell about coal jobs at his town hall is a big weakness for GOP in next election, Trump promised a lot he can't deliver

The fake "war on coal" that Republicans say killed jobs will end, but coal and coal jobs won't rise again

(20,998 posts)...he thinks he's infallible and invincible and does not have to answer to the electorate. I recently read he's worth $36 million. I wonder how much he was worth in 1984, when he first took office.
From Wikipedia: "McConnell has repeatedly been found to have the lowest home state approval rating of any sitting senator."
It's time McConnell retires... willingly or otherwise.

(1,702 posts)YOU LAST TERM is a great simple way to communicate a lot of feelings without it becoming like a tRUMP45* WORD SALAD speak. Joni Ernst heard it loud and clear. I think every up for re election candidate needs to hear it.
But, let's not forget to stay focused on the Russian tRUMP45* ties, that's the impeachment card imo.

(7,639 posts)Everyone has got to get valid ID between now and then.
Preaching to the choir here on DU, but something has to be done. With those folks and the 40% who don't vote.

(988 posts)Not much going on at the Senator Bill Cassidy town hall.
About 200-300 at town hall for Sen Cassidy. Mostly a republican friendly crowd.
there were some boos during the repeal and place portion and when Trumps name was mentioned.
Cassidy was sucking up to Trump. Trump this and Trump that and Make Trump our god...
When he said there where some people hear that must not like Trump.. about a 1/5 of the crowd chimed in boo or no.
Then he said there where probably a bunch that liked Trump and for those to raise their hands.
about a 1/3 of the crowd raised their hands.

(22,181 posts)It gladdened my heart. He looked like a turtle caught in the headlights.
Unfortunately, McConnell is one of my senators. So far, it has been impossible to contact him by phone or email.

He should not be trusted by anybody. Anybody. Even his supporters.
