Iraq won't take part in regional conflict, Abadi says after Trump phone call

Source: CNBC

Iraq won't take part in any regional or international conflicts, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Saturday.

The comment came after Abadi had spoke in a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trumpwhere tensions with Iran were mentioned.

"Iraq is very keen to preserve its national interests (..)and does not wish to be part of any regional or international conflict which would lead to disasters for the region and for Iraq," Abadi told state TV.

The White House on Friday said Trump and Abadi "spoke to the threat Iran presents across the entire region," in their first phone call since the inauguration of the U.S. president.

I think the only thing that could possibly convince Iran and Iraq to patch up their differences is Donald Trump attempting to invade either one.

Trump has another problem: Iran has created a homegrown ballistic missile called the Sejjil. It has enough range to hit Israel, and they have quite a few. Even loaded with "conventional" warheads like thermobaric charges - which are fairly easy to make - it is completely capable of giving Israel a truly bad day.

That was a bit platitudinous of you, what next, the world is a dangerous place? I have a sneaky suspicion that what you "believe" and what the former president Barrack Obama "knows" are most likely at either ends of the spectrum.

Drumpfy apparently doesn't know the first thing about the Sunni/Shiite history in Iraq, Iran, and the greater ME.
