In Meeting With Senators, Trump Referred to Elizabeth Warren as Pocahontas Several Times

by Justin Baragona 8:03 pm, February 10th, 2017

In a meeting with Democratic and Republican members of the Senate, President Donald Trump brought up a couple of blasts from the past. According to Politico,* Trump told the ten senators sitting in the room that he would have won New Hampshire in the election** if there wouldnt have been thousands of people bussed in from Massachusetts to illegally vote. This was, of course, doubling down on his previous, unsubstantiated claims of massive voter fraud.

However, he wasnt done there. ... With Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) in the news over being silenced ion the Senate floor due to her reading a letter from Coretta Scott King, Trump decided to pull his old Pocahontas insult out of mothballs.

During the meeting, Trump also reacted to Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren being silenced on the Senate floor while trying to read a 1986 letter by Coretta Scott King and in objection to Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions before he was confirmed as attorney general. According to participants in Thursdays meeting, Trump referred to Warren several times as Pocahontas, the moniker he gave her during his campaign, and told the Democrats he was glad Warren is becoming the face of your party.

During the presidential campaign, Trump continually lobbed the attack at Warren, basing it on claims that she lied about her Native American heritage. Looks like he isnt done using it.

Trump brings up vote fraud again, this time in meeting with senators

'An uncomfortable silence' momentarily overtook the room, said one participant.

My husband has the same problem: he has a great grandparent who was NA, but he cannot prove it -- that far back his poor family had their babies at home. Birth certificates were sketchy at best.

Pocahontas was a much more accomplished person than he'll ever be. As sorcrow pointed out above, she had a better record with immigrants, eventually marrying one in an effort to integrate her people and the English newcomers. She even traveled to England - where she managed not to start an international incident - and impressed the locals with her intelligence. Unfortunately, she died young from a disease she had no immunity to, but her son survived to become a prominent Virginian. (Fun fact: Woodrow Wilson's 2nd wife, Edith Bolling Galt, claimed to be one of her descendants.)

Trump and his ilk are racists. That is all this is about. It is the crowd that enjoy calling her names and snicker to themselves. We have been hearing it from day 1 on RW racist radio. And what is this really about. Her family told her she had Native American heritage in her background and grew up believing it (and it may be true). That's it. Haven't they turned on the TV lately and seen the commercial for the ancestry organization and seeing people (actors, maybe) finding out that what they believe turns out no entirely true. It is an issue about nothing. But racists love to hate. And unfortunately one is the child racist in the WH.
