L.L. Bean CEO Pledges to Support Employees Affected by President Trumps Immigration Ban

The CEO of retail clothing company L.L. Bean told staff that the company stands with any employee affected by President Donald Trump's immigration ban and offered to support them in "any way possible"

CEO Stephen Smith addressed staff in a company-wide email that was obtained by Politico saying that L.L. Bean supports “diversity to create a stronger organization and a better world." He added that the company believes in “an inclusive, welcoming work environment."

In January, the company came under fire after co-owner and board member Linda Bean's donation to Trump's campaign came to light, with some urging an anti-Trump boycott of its merchandise. Trump later tweeted a message of support to the company, prompting the U.S. Office of Government Ethics to warn federal employees not to endorse companies or products.

Their board and a majority of their employees are liberal. The county they work in voted for Hillary.

Show me a company that is 100% liberal?

LL Bean is a good company. Better than most.

I think they really were misjudged by the tendencies of one family member who is on the board. I sense that they'd love for her to leave, but how can they make it happen? I don't shop there anyway at this point, but if I did, I would not judge by that.

Not many realize Beans merchandise is warrantied forever. The prices many be higher but I bought jeans a decade ago that wore out and they replaced them no charge. My brother had work boots that were almost 20 years old that were replaced no charge last month. They do all their own fulfillment in Freeport, Maine and employ many people there.
Great response from their CEO!

He's a family friend. Quite polite and not necessarily what you'd expect from most CEOs. With that being said, he has changed (allegedly) since assuming the mantle of CEO. Still, whether you like LL Bean or not, it's hard to take issue with his stance in this instance.
