NEW YORK (AP) Hillary Clinton has a lot of plans for 2017, including some reflections on her stunning loss last fall to Donald Trump.
The former secretary of state, senator and first lady is working on a book of personal essays that will come out this fall, Simon & Schuster told The Associated Press on Wednesday. The book, still untitled, is structured around hundreds of favorite quotations that have inspired her. The publisher said Clinton will use the quotes to "tell stories from her life, up to and including her experiences in the 2016 presidential campaign" and into her thoughts on the future.
"These are the words I live by," Clinton said in a statement. "These quotes have helped me celebrate the good times, laugh at the absurd times, persevere during the hard times and deepen my appreciation of all life has to offer."
"I hope by sharing these words and my thoughts about them, the essays will be meaningful for readers," Clinton added.
Clinton will also resume her relationship with the Harry Walker Agency, the speakers bureau she worked with after she stepped down in 2013 as secretary of state. Clinton's lucrative career as a speaker, notably her talks sponsored by Goldman Sachs, were criticized by primary opponent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and others as a sign that she was too close to the financial industry.

(42,008 posts)But the pigeon hole they put this great woman in is a thorough one. We are losing, perhaps, decades of positive progress by rejecting her with lies, and the cousin of lies --out of context and innunendo.

(53,866 posts)but we chose not to, mostly by maligning her falsely and never giving her the benefit of the doubt
so as a private citizen she weighs in about as much as other private citizens. She weighed in on the Women's March and against the Muslim Ban.

I am having a hard time getting over how hateful so many were towards her. I expected if from the right - but was blindsided by the uber-left who I think did the most damage.

(531 posts)I would prefer that she wrote something helpful and called it the constitutional crisis it is. I would prefer that she said 'damn the torpedoes' and went full harpie on The Donald and called him down for everything he's doing. Al Franken would if he wasn't in office, Michael Moore would, Palast would, why not her? She has the nation's ear right now, why not use it for good. We remember the election, we were there; right now the public could be education on all these illegal moves he is making and why they are such a threat to our country.

(53,866 posts)it's not her fault that we chose not to listen.
she's a private citizen and doing her best in that role.
starshine00
(531 posts)& let's be real I listened, my guess is you listened. She's an attorney, she knows the law, and she has the public's ear better than anyone right now since so many voters are living with regret (my mother is even lying and pretending she didn't vote for Trump, lol). I want HRC's take on this, I hope she doesn't squander what could be a huge teaching moment.

(4,187 posts)I'm sorry, but if we wanted her to be active and have influence, we should have made her president. The poor woman has been through enough. She is under no obligation to personally fix our mistakes. She has as much right as anyone to enjoy her retirement and do what she wants to do.
starshine00
(531 posts)it's not your fault, we just disagree. I stated what I prefer her subject matter be if she writes a book, rather than 'enjoying her retirement' as you say (I didn't know she retired, my bad).
athena
(4,187 posts)I don't know if she's retired -- in fact, the article posted suggests she'll soon be back on the speaking circuit. My point was that she has suffered enough and should be free to do what she wants to do. I don't want to see further nasty attacks against her saying she lost the election and should know her place and be quiet. I've been through a lot myself, but I can only imagine how it must feel to be Hillary Clinton today.
I'm so angry at those who voted against her.
starshine00
(531 posts)just in my personal experience I mean, I am sensing some remorse where there was arrogance before. I would love for her to run again and get her rightful presidency but my fear is she is a bit feeble to do so...but if she wants it then it should be hers. I feel guilty for even thinking something like this because she does deserve some peace on earth like you said ... no pressure HRC if you don't want to run again...

(531 posts)I didn't know there was an official announcement. It really isn't fair to ask her to continue at her age, she's given way more than most people, but hope springs eternal. But like I said in my post, I would love her take on all that is going on, since she has the public's ear right now in the midst of this disaster.
starshine00
(531 posts)well into the 2nd google page. Every one, whether they say she will run or not. creepy.

(9,696 posts)"we chose not to listen?" who is this "we" you speak of?
Anyone with half a brain could see exactly what would happen if she didn't win.
Blame the people who didn't vote, or didn't vote for her.
La Lioness Priyanka
(53,866 posts)1. your post is unnecessarily snarky, there is really no reason for it
2. we as a nation did not listen. that's the we i am talking about. We as a people. We as a nation. etc.
Merlot
(9,696 posts)is ridiculous. More people voted for her than against her. And as a nation of people, we all don't think the same way. Now that drumptf is elected, we aren't all a nation of drumptf supporters.
While you might find my post unnecessairly snarky (judge much?) I find being scolded for not listening to be very condecending.
La Lioness Priyanka
(53,866 posts)not everything that i write is about you. in fact nothing really is.
We as a nation did not take this threat seriously enough, else he would not be in office.

If you think about it, she's done quite a lot already. What MORE does she need to to to "cement" her legacy?

She prolly won't admit it publicly until solid evidence is uncovered years from now but I have no doubt eventually it will come to light over several dead bodies that Russia had a larger role than just "influencing" the 2016 election.
Personally I believe the election results were hacked with early votes being the most susceptible to hacking specifically turning single party D's to R's that way come election day when the intelligence community was on high alert for such hacking the damage was already done & the election delivered...no specific evidence behind my theory but it was would explain merely every single poll being off and leading to the defeats of dems like Feingold, Bayh, etc

After reading more on how Russia interferred in the Ukraine elections and the current issues going on, I can definitely see it. I hope the truth is revealed--whatever it is---soon.
