'Impeach Trump Now' campaign racks up more than a half million signatures

Source: International Business Times

01 FEB 2017 AT 09:47 ET

The “Impeach Donald Trump Now” campaign, which called for the president’s impeachment for “serious violations” and “unprecedented level of corruption” since he took the office, has gained over half a million signatures.

The campaign, an independent public interest initiative, is led by nonpartisan and nonprofit Free Speech for People and RootsAction.

“As of January 20, 2017, President Trump’s refusal to divest from his business interests has placed him in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause and on a collision course with the Constitution’s Domestic Emoluments Clause and with the federal STOCK Act (Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012),” according to the campaign’s website.

The campaign claims that Trump’s business holdings in the U.S. and across the world show conflicts of interest, which violate the American constitution. Ron Fein, legal director of Free Speech For People, on Tuesday alleged that Trump is making profit at public expense.

until he f**ks thing up so badly that a good percentage of even his supporters give up on him. Otherwise, they will make him a martyr and try to bring him or his minions back every election and work even harder to destroy our candidate between elections. We need to bide our time for a while to get it done with finality.

It needs to happen now. Look at all the horrific things he's already done in just less than 2 weeks. It needs to happen now, and swiftly before this nation is full-on fascist.

They just got a right wing ideologue nominated to the SCOTUS, and they are expecting more of the same if there are more vacancies. So they will continue to support Trump for the time being as long as he keeps giving them what they want.

Better to wait for awhile until Trump digs and even deeper grave for himself, and he will. Then may we will have a better chance to get the Repubs to turn on him.

in hell to get enough in Congress to impeach not with the Republicans in control and they wont do that until he does something major and their hand is forced or until Trump becomes to much of a liability and refuses to do what they tell him to do and sign what they want him to sign when they order him to sign it.

Two years till the election isn't that long and we need to gain seats everywhere to stop these ass-hats. The chances of 2/3 majority to run this CON ARTIST out on an impeachment rap isn't going to happen.

been ideal to replace Scalia back to a balanced court but even Obama's nominee was a conservative so the balance has not shifted with a conservative replacing a conservative so focus on the midterms and then on the next justice pick as odds are we will be losing one of the liberal justices in a few years.

why would they try to cancel the election? Instead they will be shooting for a filibuster-proof 60 vote majority in the Senate. And if they pull that off then God help us.

I've been hearing that cancelled election,Marshall law stuff for 16 years. It was going full tilt when idiot boy Dubya owned everything yet we still had elections and could walk out the door.

There will be the usual mid terms and we need to get GOING now!!

the long game and worked to build a strong base to do things like gerrymandering districts and passing laws who's true intent wasn't to stop voter fraud but rather to suppress the ability to vote for anyone that might lean towards voting for a Democrat.
We to need to play the long game and work to get Democrats into office from the lowly county commissioner on up.
