SF to sue over Trump's executive order targeting sanctuary city

San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera filed a federal lawsuit against President Trump on Tuesday morning, calling the administrations executive order threatening to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities unconstitutional.
Not only is it unconstitutional - its un-American, Herrera said at a City Hall news conference announcing the lawsuit. It is necessary to defend the people of this city, this state and this country from the wild overreach of a president whose words and actions have thus far shown little respect for our Constitution or the rule of law.
Trumps executive order blocks federal grants to sanctuary cities and revives Immigration and Customs Enforcements controversial Secure Communities program phased out under President Obama.
San Francisco receives more than $1 billion from the federal government, accounting for about 10 percent of the citys budget.
