Republicans should be scared of repealing Obamacare, and this poll shows why

Republicans are getting very worried about repealing Obamacare, and tensions have begun to boil over, as The Post's Mike DeBonis reports.
A new poll shows exactly why they should be concerned.
The Quinnipiac University poll shows that just 16 percent of Americans want Congress to repeal all of Obamacare, while 51 percent say it should repeal only parts and 30 percent say it shouldn't repeal anything. This echoes other polling showing the Affordable Care Act rising in popularity and that full repeal has fallen out of favor even as the GOP prepares to repeal the law one way or another.
Even more illustrative in the new poll, though, is this: Voters indicated they'll actually punish those who vote for repeal. Quinnipiac asked them whether they would be more likely or less likely to vote for a senator or member of Congress who votes for repeal, and by nearly a 2-to-1 margin, they said less likely..................

January 27, 2017 - Use A Scalpel, Don't Amputate Obamacare, U.S. Voters Tell Quinnipiac University National Poll; Voters Oppose Fund Cut For Planned Parenthood 7-1 Quinnipiac
Most American voters are satisfied with the quality and cost of their health care and say Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) should be fixed, but not repealed, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today. And voters say 84 - 13 percent that Congress should not repeal the ACA until there is a replacement plan in place.
Only 16 percent of voters say President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress should repeal all of the ACA, while 51 percent say repeal parts of the law and 30 percent say don't repeal any of the ACA, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds.
A total of 96 percent of American voters, including 91 percent of Republicans, say it is "very important" or "somewhat important" that health insurance be affordable for all Americans.
American voter attitudes about their own health care are positive:
A total of 82 percent are "very satisfied" or "somewhat satisfied" with the quality of their

What the hell are they thinking? What planet do they think they're living on? What reality do they think they're living IN?
I wish our tribe would start helping folks like them to connect the dots. It has to be said and repeated ad nauseam:
republi-CONS DON'T WANT TO HELP YOU!!!
They don't believe in it! They don't think government should do that! They say you're on your own. "Personal Responsibility!" And that's really codespeak for - you're on yer own, chump! It's not our job to help you!
And mind you, MANY of these cads on the CON side claim to be Catholic (here's looking at YOU, Paul Ryan) or some other Christian denomination. And yet not one of them ever quotes that part of Scripture that quotes Jesus as saying "whatever you do to the least of these, you do to Me."
Or

(26,298 posts)some of the right wing nutjobs might be exceptionally pissed if they or someone they love loses their health coverage because of the repeal and they could very well decide to stupidly take Trumps earlier 2nd amendment comment to heart.
True the probability is low on that happening but its possible.
The most likely reason is because they are afraid of being voted out of office.

The above bolded is what frightens the hell out of me with 2018 & 2020 coming up. Under a tRumputin DOJ, Dems will continue losing voting/civil rights at an alarming rate. Crosschecking, voter purging AND russian hacking "ENCOURAGED" by that same tRumputin DOJ.
Like AG Sessions would EVER investigate anything related to voter suppression/voter disenfranchisement if a complaint came across his desk lodged by POC/Dems?

but a publicity stunt, now they won't do what they said they must do.

(12,448 posts)The recording reveals a GOP that appears to be filled with doubts about how to make good on a long-standing promise to get rid of Obamacare without explicit guidance from President Trump or his administration. The thorny issues lawmakers grapple with on the tape including who may end up either losing coverage or paying more under a revamped system highlight the financial and political challenges that flow from upending the current law.
Senators and House members expressed a range of concerns about the task ahead: how to prepare a replacement plan that can be ready to launch at the time of repeal; how to avoid deep damage to the health insurance market; how to keep premiums affordable for middle-class families; even how to avoid the political consequences of defunding Planned Parenthood, the womens health-care organization, as many Republicans hope to do with the repeal of the ACA.
Wed better be sure that were prepared to live with the market weve created with repeal, said Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.). Thats going to be called Trumpcare. Republicans will own that lock, stock and barrel, and well be judged in the election less than two years away.
Behind Closed Doors Republican Lawmakers Fret About How to Repeal Obamacare
Fuck them. They had eight years to come up with a replacement. They never intended to have a replacement, but now they're scared of the inevitable consequences. Consequences to them, of course, not to the millions who will be adversely affected by a repeal.
