Speaking before the first joint press conference of the Trump Administration, the British leader said she had obtained Trump's reassurance that he stands behind NATO, despite his earlier comments.

"We are united in our recognition of NATO as the bulwark of our collective defense and today we've reaffirmed our unshakable commitment to our alliance," May said. "Mr. President, I think you saidconfirmed, that you are 100% behind NATO. But we're also discussing the importance of NATO continuing to ensure it is as equipped to fight terrorism and cyber-warfare as it is to fight more conventional forms of war."

That'll be the end of it.

He is so ashamed to be seen as not in control of events that others around him feel emboldened to say whatever the hell they want, knowing that Trump won't contradict them. It's why we have six or seven Presidents now instead of one.

They're all milling around with bizarre facial expressions. Grab assing. Kellyanne and Spicer were hugging and kissing in the background while Trump was signing papers.

This thing isn't staged quite as professionally as 'the apprentice'.

And oh please! No more calls for a Chief of Protocol to prevent him from stepping in it.

Better he call the Japanese Prime Minister a "Jap", Queen Elizabeth "Lizzie" and the Italian PM a "whop"!

Let him set back U.S. foreign relations a few centuries first, making a fool of himself to world leaders for a long time and let us bask in the glory that they all know he's a carny-barker, at best!

What he says one time has zero bearing on what he actually does the next. He's Putin's boy, just waiting to take the promised actions so he can be paid in full.

but to have it so flagrantly visible is still disturbing. Seeing Trump standing next to an actual statesperson - one with whom I disagree on many points, but who knows how to behave like a diplomatically-minded adult - should be jarring to anyone.
