Congress gone wild! While Trump grabs headlines, the House has been hard at work pushing GOP agenda
Source: Salon
Donald Trump is not the only game in Washington when it comes to pushing for dangerous and destructive policies. The House of Representatives of the 115th Congress has been hard at work since its swearing-in three weeks ago. In that time, the chamber has set the stage for a frenzy of revanchist policy prescriptions that, should they pass the Senate and be signed into law by the president, will radically alter the nations regulatory landscape, hurt women and their health, and ransom off our national parks to mining and other corporate interests.
Some of these changes, like a budget resolution setting the stage for rolling back Obamacare and attacking abortion rights, were high-profile enough to rate heavy coverage. Others were not. Here is a quick look at some of the legislation the House has passed in the first three weeks of the new regime.

Look past the smoke and mirrors. Federal land valued at zero dollars? They were ready from day 1.

(25,253 posts)because all the oxygen in the room is going to covering Trump and very little left to watch the crap that the Repugs in Congress are pulling.
So Trump picks a fight with the Media - and the Media fights back by unloading on Trump - while in the background the Repugs are going about dismantling this country and no one is paying attention to them. Sound familiar?
This is the same strategy Trump used to win the primaries. He would say outlandish things and everyone would be focused on that instead of the issues.
This is the same strategy Trump used in the general election. The Dems were focused on Trump and his personality that they didn't run their campaign against the Repugs - that for the previous 8 years did everything in their power to undermine the Presidency of Barack Obama.

(22,670 posts)While the House was writing the rules package that will govern this session of Congress, the chairman of the chambers natural resources committee slipped in a provision that will make it easier for the government to transfer federal lands to states. This could be the prelude to states then selling off much of this land to whichever industry is looking to strip-mine it: timber companies, oil and gas interests, cattlemen like Cliven Bundy, you name it.
Say goodbye to Yellowstone and Yosemite. Once the corporation move it and destroy public lands, it's hard to turn back the clock on that.

Do we have any representatives in congress that are willing to expose this for what it is a giant power grab intend on the final takeover of a plutocracy to replace our democracy???
