White House says media delegitimizing Trump, won't 'take it'

Source: MSN/Reuters

The White House vowed on Sunday to fight the news media "tooth and nail" over what officials see as unfair attacks on President Donald Trump, setting a tone that could ratchet up a traditionally adversarial relationship to a new level of rancor.

A day after the Republican president used his first visit to CIA headquarters on Saturday to accuse the media of underestimating the crowds at his inauguration, White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus expressed indignation at the reports and referred to them as "attacks."

"The point is not the crowd size. The point is the attacks and the attempt to delegitimize this president in one day. And we're not going to sit around and take it," Priebus said on "Fox News Sunday."

Priebus complained about a press pool report that said the bust of Martin Luther King Jr had been removed from the Oval Office. The report on Friday night was quickly corrected but Trump called out the reporter by name at the Central Intelligence Agency on Saturday, as did spokesman Sean Spicer later in the day.

I would think that the White House is deligitimizing itself without any help with references to "alternative facts," and such. Still, another threat against the media.

29. Trump emulating Hitler??
Sun Jan 22, 2017, 03:12 PM
Jan 2017

Which is a better name for "the, not my" new President????

Trumpler or Hitrump....

Both men are narcissistic and cannot stand any, any kind of criticism. Hitler controlled every bit of information fed to the German people. Trump has said that if he gets elected, he will rewrite the libel laws so that it would be easier for politicians to sue the media. This goes against the spirit and intent of the First Amendment which guarantees free press which is absolutely necessary in protecting our Democracy. Trump plans on rewriting the libel laws in order to intimidate the media and silence opposition. That, as in Hitler's case is the mark of a dictator.

Both will/would not tolerate anyone speaking out against or heckling them when speaking in public. Just look at the fights that broke out during Trumps campaigns and the people that were injured. Hitler had his SA's beat agitators bloody.

Both men believe in torture..Trump in water boarding and other means of torture and history tells of the horrors Hitler inflicted on the Jews.

Both men are racist..
Hitler tried to annihilate the Jews
Trumps is trying to annihilate the Mexicans and the Muslims

Think about it..who supports Hitler and Trump...White Supremacist..they think he is the second coming of Hitler, "their Savior" because he is pro-white and anti-Muslim and anti-Mexican. They think he's on their side especially since he's all for everyone running around gun crazy.

Both men promised to make their countries great again....true Germany had issues but l personally thought the United States was already great..if he thinks it's so bad he should go live in Russia.

I could go on but space is limited. If he doesn't want to be compared to Hitler than he needs to quit emulating him.

Oy Vey... what are we in for America?

Queeg is revealed to be every bit as much of a lunatic as he is accused of being. But it really is sad as it dawns on Queeg that he just proved their case. I keep thinking that tRump will have his Queeg moment when cameras are on and the whole messy story gets shown for all to see. I hoped throughout the campaign that it would happen only to see his followers embrace him all the more when he acted out. Never in my wildest dreams did I think his first days in office would spiral out of control so quickly and over such a trivial matter...crowd size.

So yes, Sean and Donald, you will take whatever is dished out. You baked this turd cake and now you have to eat it and swallow.

This is the most animated and hopeful I have seen DU since Nov. 8th. Who knew that two days in we'd we whistling and turning cartwheels?? I like to think that maybe the media people may be licking their chops after the thrashing they've taken from tRump and his minions.

... or whatever your name is.

I guess you haven't figured out yet that you need the media far more than they need you. The press is your only means of trying to defend the idiocies of this pResident. Unless you plan to stand on a soapbox in the local park and shout at passersby in order to "clarify" your boss's latest inane Tweet, or grab the mic at local bingo halls in order to do the required damage control, you're fucked. You have no other way of spewing your bullshit talking points to a wide audience; you have no other avenue to reach the people you'll need to convince that this isn't the Worst Administration Ever!

As weak, ineffective, and pathetically useless as the mainstream media may be, it's still a given that if it comes down to Trump v MSM, the MSM wins. They have nothing to lose by fighting back - and you have nothing to gain by taking them on.

In fact, if the media goes full-out Dump Trump, they'll probably gain viewers awed by the MSM's new-found growth of a spine.
