Kawasaki to Stop Sponsoring 'Apprentice' Because of Trump Involvement

Source: NYT

As a reality star, Donald J. Trump turned “The Apprentice” into a television success. As president-elect, he may be costing it money.

Kawasaki, the Japanese motoring company, said on Wednesday that it would drop its sponsorship of “The New Celebrity Apprentice” on NBC as long as Mr. Trump retained his involvement in the show.

The company’s decision came after it was featured by #GrabYourWallet, a grass-roots online campaign to boycott companies with ties to Mr. Trump, his family and his political donors.

A segment featuring Kawasaki was broadcast on Monday’s episode. A Kawasaki spokesman, Kevin Allen, said that the company had never been informed that Mr. Trump was keeping his role as executive producer. The segment, Mr. Allen said, quickly generated concern from Kawasaki customers and dealers.

Washington Metro rolling stock 7000-series

In April 2013 WMATA moved forward with plans to order 528 railcars from Kawasaki, called the 7000-series, to replace the 1000, 4000-series cars, and to provide service for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, otherwise known as the Silver Line.
....

The first 7000-series train debuted on the Blue Line on April 14, 2015. 7000-series trains subsequently entered service on the Red line on June 8, 2015, the Orange Line in July, and the Green and Yellow Lines on August 17, 2015.

In June 2016, the 7000-series was taken out of service on Blue, Orange and Silver Lines after Metro discovered that trains could lose contact with the third rail on a steep curve, which caused a train to shut down outside Rosslyn Station in May 2016.

Cars 7000–7219 are in service.

They were built in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Rolling Stock Company

Products

As indicated by the company name, the company mainly produces railroad vehicles. Recently Kawasaki has received orders from customers in foreign countries, including Ireland and the United States. All products manufactured for the US rail market are sold through Kawasaki Rail Car Inc., another division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Because of substantial sales to the New York City Subway and various commuter lines, an overseas assembly plant has been established in Yonkers, New York (At present, most of the vehicles for the U.S. market are already produced there). Another assembly plant in Lincoln, Nebraska produces fully completed cars and "knocked down" cars that can be completed at the Yonkers facility.

And publicize their conflict with the "emoluments" clause in the Constitution.

Start with "The Apprentice".

Very nice of them. We just picked up a gorgeous '72 175 for keepers, nothing beats the fun of those old bikes.
