WASHINGTON -- Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, the first black woman elected to represent New Jersey in Congress, said she will not attend Friday's inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
Watson Coleman (D-12th Dist.) made her decision known on Twitter on Sunday, a day after Trump used the same medium to criticize Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a civil rights icon who earlier had said he won't be at the inauguration..........................................................

(33,534 posts)In doing this, she's living up to the legacy of the best congressman ever to serve the 12th district, Rush Holt (who retired to become the CEO of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, AAAS.
I saw her primary opponent, PPPL physicist Andrew Zwicker, at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab. Zwicker, who moonlights now as a NJ State Assemblyman, was also visibly angry about the anti-science tone of the Trump Coupiers. He told me during the primary that he will someday run for the House again.
I love the 12th district of New Jersey.
Congratulations to Congresswoman Coleman for a job well done!
