CIA director warns Trump to watch what he says, be careful on Russia

Outgoing CIA Director John Brennan on Sunday issued a stern parting rebuke to Republican Donald Trump days before he assumes the U.S. presidency, advising him not to absolve Russia for its recent actions and warning him to watch what he says.

Brennan's comments, in an interview on "Fox News Sunday," laid bare the simmering tensions between the president-elect and the intelligence community he has criticized and is on the verge of commanding.

The CIA director said Trump needs to be mindful about his off-the-cuff remarks once he takes the oath of office on Friday, alluding to his penchant for making broad pronouncements on Twitter.

"Spontaneity is not something that protects national security interests and so therefore when he speaks or when he reacts, just make sure he understands that the implications and impact on the United States could be profound," Brennan said.

And he said it was "outrageous" that Trump equated the intel community with Nazi Germany.

Trumpy's only concern is whether HE has the headlines. Even negative attention is better than none. Trumpy has no intellectual understanding of Brennan's warning. Emotionally, Trumpy is likely upset at the suggestion that he's doing something wrong, and will likely retaliate against Brennan with some kind of derogatory reply-- something like, "Brennan ran a false news lab out of the CIA headquarters. He's a disaster."

As time passes, Trumpy will use his own brand of reasoning to conclude that he's got enemies on three sides of the White House, and that he's constantly under siege. He'll construct a paranoid view of his job and will be spending his days retaliating and planning retaliation. Meanwhile, the investigations, scandals, lawsuits, demonstrations and legal problems will continue to mount and take up even more of his time. Already, his presidency is adrift and headed for the rocks.
