Donald Trump Pressures Republicans to Repeal, Replace Health Law at Same Time

Source: WSJ

WASHINGTON—President-elect Donald Trump is increasing pressure on congressional Republicans to vote at the same time to both repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, but party leaders haven’t indicated any shift in strategy to make that happen.

Mr. Trump’s push, combined with doubts from different factions of Republicans, could end up slowing down party leaders’ efforts to rapidly overturn much of the law. Mr. Trump, who backs simultaneously repealing and replacing the 2010 health-care law, is finding allies in the Senate, where a half-dozen Republicans are worried about repealing the law without having a replacement plan ready.

(snip)

GOP leaders said Monday that while they would love to have a replacement written as soon as possible, they would move quickly on the first steps of a repeal measure while taking the time needed to get policy details right.

(snip)

The debate over the timing of dismantling the health law has divided Republicans. GOP leaders want to show they are wasting no time in following through on their campaign pledges to roll back the law. But other Republicans are willing to wait on repealing the law if it can be paired with its replacement. They worry that rolling back much of the law without the next steps in place could trigger uncertainty in the insurance market and among the 20 million people who have received coverage under the law.

All they have to fall back on is the notion of health savings accounts and selling across state lines which have zero impact on delivering health coverage to all citizens.

Democrats should STOP calling it Obamacare.

The GOP has framed it as stopping Obamacare which is an evil name to their base.

Start calling it only by the name 'ACA' and local names such as Kynect which people who have it like.

Many of the base do not know they are the same.

Keep hammering that republicans want to repeal what many of their base wants to keep.

They just want Obama's name OFF of it. If they could successfully change the name to Trumpcare tomorrow and their idiot followers would buy it, they would do it. They still might.
