Dem governors: GOP hurting economy to aid Romney

By By JOSH LEDERMAN – 23 minutes ago

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Democratic governors are accusing House Republicans of deliberately sabotaging the economy to help Mitt Romney oust President Barack Obama.

"There's not a doubt in my mind that in their calculations, that they are hoping for the economy to slow before the election," Gov. Martin O'Malley, D-Md., said in an interview Friday. "They think that's their best shot at unseating the president."

Democrats have grumbled for months that Republicans have obstructed legislation to deny Obama the election-year victories he needs to make the case for his economic record.

But on Friday, some Democratic governors pointed to the GOP-controlled House's efforts to withhold support for the stimulus and block Democratic jobs legislation, and said — in interviews with The Associated Press on the sidelines of the National Governors Association's annual meeting — that the only rational conclusion is that Republicans are sacrificing the economic recovery to bolster their argument that Obama has failed to create jobs.

that would clearly help put Americans back to work, coupled with their ridiculous obsession with repealing ACA! If there is any lag in the economy it's mostly on their head not Obama's fault as they like to constantly crow..IT's pure politics at the expense of the economy and the American people they are supposed to be serving and the ultimate lack of patriotism for which they are GUILTY!!

he or she should remind the country that this is what is happening. The GOP is UNPATRIOTIC, greedy, lying, corrupt, selfish, bigoted, and evil.

There are computer programs that print images on t-shirts. I believe this is Creative Commons or Public Domain. A lot of people are making various images available online for free to spread the message of Occupy principles since the media won't allow it. Partly shown by this poster they made here:

Good luck and spread the word.

And make sure most everyone will see it.

I dunno, everywhere Letterman, SNL, et al (of course FAKE NEWS would turn it down).

MSM is owned essentially by the GOP backers.....They make me feel hosed at times.

That said....maybe this acknowledgement by the Democratic Governors will grow legs.

of day to day routine operations getting rejected by Republican underlings still in the offices of the Obama administration which are promptly overturned once you go over their head.

I know someone who was turned down for the first time home buyers credit and got it instantly on appeal. Then they received a letter months later saying they were facing an investigation with possible criminal charges over their getting the money which was dropped by a single phone call.

It's systemic and nationwide to throw a wrench into EVERYTHING.

and educate the American people!

Obama and Biden can't do this by themselves!!!

p.s. O'Malley, my great governor, has been doing an outstanding job, but where are the other Democrats?

p.s.s. My rant is NOT directed to the OP. It is in respond to the article.

11. Let's get to the real aim of the Republican Party.

Their aim is not merely to defeat President Obama.

The aim of Republicans is to destroy the Democratic Party, whose base is the middle class, by destroying the middle class.

This is why the right wing is attacking unions, educators, outsourcing jobs, and short-changing small businesses that provide many middle class American jobs. These efforts are designed to destroy the Democratic base.

The Democratic Party is in a war for its existence and they better start putting up a better offense against the right wing across ALL political races or it is game over for democracy in this country.

The Democrats better stop using up all their ammunition against Romney (who is going to lose by self destruction, anyway), and start targeting right wingers in Congressional races and state government races.

A bigger worry is the disenfranchisement of people who traditionally vote for Democrats, and the discrepancies in counting the votes, as well as the widespread breakdowns in voting machines.

Otherwise we will wind up in the same stalemate situation of the last 3 and one-half years.

That is not only Obama's first day in office but also the day Frank Luntz presided over a meeting with top Republican where he told them that their best way forward was to oppose every proposal put forward by Obama and that meant using the filibuster on everything in the Senate. Less than one month later Obama's stimulus bill was block in the Senate by filibuster making him both reduce the size and make tax cuts 38% of the total package. Only then was he able to peel off Spector, Collins and Snowe to vote to end the filibuster. Then there is the debt ceiling debacle....

Until the American voters crush those beholden to the likes of Grover Norquist, Frank Luntz and Rush Limbaugh we will be in for a rough ride. I don't think they are yet up to the task but that could change somewhat between now and November, especially with all of the problems Romney now faces with his personal finances.

13. GOP NO!!!!!!

Jul 2012

From day one of the Obama Presidency the ugly GOP plotted to say no to every proposal by the President or Democrats and say no. They and their enablers FOX News and Surrogates have not changed one iota.

Do to this ugly policy is why we are in a financial downward spiral and not the Country with a surplus and Jobs.

The GOP needs to look into a mirror and I am sure they will see themselves.
