Trump Swears He Will Still Make Mexico Pay For The Border Wall!

Source: Talking Points Memo

By CAITLIN MACNEAL Published JANUARY 6, 2017, 8:20 AM EDT

Following reports that the Donald Trump team's current plan for building a border wall relies on Congress to appropriate federal funds to pay for the wall, Trump lashed out against the media and insisted that Mexico would pay eventually.

Donald J. Trump ✔
@realDonaldTrump
The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!

Under Trump's current plan for building a border wall, Congress will use existing legislation authorizing border fences to appropriate funds for additional building along the border, according to the Associated Press. Congress would not pass a new bill authorizing a wall. Trump surrogate Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) also told CNN Friday morning that Trump will negotiate reimbursement with Mexico.

"When you understand that Mexico's economy is dependent upon US consumers, Donald Trump has all the cards he needs to play," Collins said. "On the trade negotiation side, I don't think it's that difficult for Donald Trump to convince Mexico that it's in their best interest to reimburse us for building the wall."

With Trump's long history of stiffing people to whom he owes money, he is the LAST person in the whole United States to be telling a sovereign country that they will be expected to pay us back for a project they never asked for in the first place.

As for Rep. Collins--guess again, you ignorant dork. It will not only be "difficult" for Trump to convince Mexico to reimburse us for building a wall, it will be about as easy as getting Trump to release his tax returns prior to a presidential election.

always let us be cheated, instead of reality, is likely to cost us still more badly.

Just electing Trump is forcing hundreds of nations to see their interdependence on us as a grave threat to themselves. It'd take another couple of decades of electing responsible leaders to regain a reasonable degree of trust in us, and no one can be sure the right won't somehow top Trump next time. Like they trumped W with this one, maybe the swamp creatures are just the windup.

hope he falls on his head before then. Maybe he'll have a stroke. Or decompensate under pressure. Kurt Eichenwald, who investigated Trump intensively for Newsweek, said he believes Trump was in a mental hospital in the 1990s, possibly for depression, but he couldn't obtain proof of it.

Years ago, we were driving thru El Paso, along the U.S. side of the Rio Grande. We had to slam on the brakes several times for people who had waded thru the river from Mexico (not much water there in July), raced across the road, and scaled what had to be at least a 10' wall. Soooo......how tall is Rump thinking of building his wall?

Scenario follows:
I am store manager of a Frank's Pizza in suburban Wherever and I sell 250 $25 pies a night. Frank calls the ten of us store managers I n and orders us to increase sales by 10 percent. I decide the easiest way to deal with the edict is to bake 25 pizzas a night, take them to random addresses, and tell the homeowners they have to buy a pizza whether they ordered one or not.

If Trump can do it, why can't I?

The Great Wall, as he calls it, is its own undoing. The only opportunity we have to extort money from Mexico involves the free flow of workers back and forth between the two countries. The wall will stem that flow, maybe choke it off completely. What then?
