News Corp. Said to Be Deciding Fate of The Daily
Source: NY Times
News Corporation is deciding the fate of The Daily, the tablet publication that just over a year ago Rupert Murdoch, the companys chairman and chief executive, introduced as a digital savior of the printed news industry, according to several people close to the company who did not want to be identified because the discussions were private.
On Thursday, those sources confirmed that The Daily was on probation and at a crossroads while the company reconsidered whether it could turn around losses that were estimated at roughly $30 million a year.

The careful look at The Daily comes weeks after Mr. Murdoch confirmed that his giant media conglomerate would be split, making the lower-performing publishing assets (including The Daily) separate from the fast-growing entertainment assets.
One person close to News Corporation said to expect several smaller ventures like The Daily to come under scrutiny in the coming weeks, as executives and consultants analyze how to best establish a healthy publishing arm.

(326 posts)1. Heck, I never even heard of The Daily...
...but I leave it to others with stronger stomachs than mine to watch the right wing drivel and lies.
