More than 1,100 law school professors nationwide oppose Sessions's nomination as attorney general

A group of more than 1,100 law school professors from across the country is sending a letter to Congress on Tuesday urging the Senate to reject the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) for attorney general.

The letter, signed by professors from 170 law schools in 48 states, is also scheduled to run as a full-page newspaper ad aimed at members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will be holding confirmation hearings for Sessions on Jan. 10-11.

We are convinced that Jeff Sessions will not fairly enforce our nations laws and promote justice and equality in the United States, states the letter, signed by prominent legal scholars including Laurence H. Tribe of Harvard Law School, Geoffrey R. Stone of the University of Chicago Law School, Pamela S. Karlan of Stanford Law School and Erwin Chemerinsky of the University of California, Irvine School of Law.

The professors from every state except North Dakota and Alaska, which has no law school highlight the rejection of Sessionss nomination to a federal judgeship more than 30 years ago. Robin Walker Sterling of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, one of the organizers of the letter, said that 1,000 professors signed on within 72 hours. Clearly, there are many, many law professors who are very uneasy with the prospect of Attorney General Sessions, and they are willing to take a public stand in opposition to his nomination, she said.

at work on how much more free we are going to be once Social Security and Medicare are gone and we are all independently responsible for our own extended elder years, 20-30 or so of complete self reliance for those who can afford adequate medical care of course.

Seriously, THIS is our way to battle those who hope to keep their voters passive while their agenda is implemented. With truth tossed out in casual chitchat, pretend surprise that not everyone has heard this or that. They haven't.

Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that the Republicans simply don't care, and certainly Trump doesn't. As long as they can enact their social Darwinian policies, they don't care if their decisions are constitutional or not. All they want is to enrich the rich, impoverish everyone else, and discriminate against women and minorities. Government of the people, by the people and for the people plays no part in their thinking.

It will be tough to oppose him as even a "moderate" republican Collins is ok with Sessions; and Shumer, I beleive, said some nice words about his personality. My bet he is gonna slide through the nomination after being a senator for so long. I can't see a single republican opposing him.

I think Sessions was selected primarily for his hardline stance towards illigal immigration - mass deportation is #1 priority for trump.
