Racism In America: 'Kill Obama' And 'Muslims Not Welcome Here' Signs In New Mexico Draw Criticism

The nation's leading Muslim civil rights advocacy group has demanded a New Mexico convenience store remove a sign that reads “Obama & other Muslims Not welcome here.” The store previously displayed a sign that ready "Kill Obama." It also sells the signs to customers.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the not welcome sign was anti-Muslim and anti-President Barack Obama. Obama is Christian, but critics often claim he is Muslim.

“While everyone has the First Amendment right to free speech – even offensive speech – we urge the store’s owner to remove the sign in the interest of common decency and of our nation’s unity at a time of increasing divisions,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

The sign has been called offensive and racist by customers on Facebook who also demanded the Mayhill, New Mexico, store owner reconsider the sign.

They are quick to tell us to secede just because of another stupid statement from former Gov Goodhair Dumbass! The DNC hasn't tried to register voters here to turn Texas blue, which if it did would guarantee Democratic victories for the foreseeable future.

We have been registering black and Hispanic voters, but without the money for anything large scale. This last election was the first time in decades I have even seen a campaign commercial for the Democratic nominee for President. Tom Delay's illegal mid-decade gerrymandering was so bad it has been too much to overcome so far. Houston had a gay female mayor, Dallas a black mayor, and San Antonio a Hispanic mayor, yet we still lose because of the gerrymandering.

The 50 state strategy would help to fight this!!! It would also help to start demanding truth be required in the news. Anything that passes along our public airwaves, such as radio and network TV, should be required to be truthful. Fox News won an appeal in Florida for intentionally lying in a story because the Court of Appeals said Fox News wasn't news, it was "entertainment."

The RW propaganda gets the mentally weak and/or lazy to believe whatever crap they decide to spew. This has caused untold damage to our country, and with Trump coming up it is about to be a nationwide Katrina!

and good people in every state, even the red ones. Hell, even California has several
scum bags in Congress. State bashing is just another form of needing to look down on

But New Mexico does have racists and bigots, just like the majority of states in the Union. This prize specimen happens to own a business.

My wish for the new year: that someone runs the Russian national flag up his flag pole instead of Old Glory when he ain't looking, and that the prankster makes a clean getaway.

My advice to would-be boy cotters: do your business before you get to Mayhill. Let him sample the effects of the "free market" his sort purportedly worships.

19. No, First of all, you are painting with a broad brush...

NM as a Democratic House & Senate, although our Governor is horrible. Even a horrible Governor can do a few things good for the people like extending Medicaid.
I did post about this store on DU on December 27 after I stopped there for coffee (didn't buy any, of course and loudly, strongly voiced my disapproval). It is between Cloudcroft, up in the tall pines and Artesia, an oil town. I ran for State Rep in our very Republican, Tea Party district this year with great support from DU, but our county, like one other is Tea Party. Most of the State is strong, proud Democratic. Cities like Albuquerque and Las Cruces are but OMG, Santa Fe is very left Dem.

I also posted on Facebook and got the most comments I've ever had when I posted as Denise Lang.

As an aside, please consider running in the next cycle. I NEVER dreamed I would run in this county which hasn't elected ANY Democrat in over 22 years. I'm a reclusive retired accountant, but it is time for all hands on deck and please consider doing what you've never done before.

At least one resident of that town (actually about 100 miles southeast of St. Cloud; Minneapolis is a lot closer) complained in such a way that the local police got involved to end an "altercation," according to the Lonsdale News Review.

Owner Dan Ruedinger realized his original message was being misunderstood, so he added the words "IN SUPPORT OF ST. CLOUD." Thanks Dan. Now we get it.
