Arkansas deputy shoots, kills man at Fayetteville tire store

Updated 3:37 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2016

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Police in Fayetteville, Arkansas, say a Washington County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man who threatened him at a tire store.

Police Sgt. Craig Stout told reporters the deputy was getting tires at Tire Tracks when the man approached him.

Stout says the deputy felt threatened and opened fire, but declined to release other details about the shooting. The deputy was not injured.

The names of the deputy and the dead man have not been released.

Wonder if the tire place has any video and if it will be released because unless the guy had weapon or was coming toward the officer and making actual verbal threats I dont see how this can be justified as self defense on the officers part.

'Feared for his life' while shooting men, women in the back, in their car, on the ground...of course, usually black or maybe brown. Same thing. And if I'm sick of it, I cry for them and their families who have to endure the results of law enforcement using that 'excuse.'
I have begun stopping and watching interactions lately between law enforcement and our citizens. After one, we all agreed respect was used...and I had to wonder if that respect stepped up a notch BECAUSE I was watching. I haven't figured out how to use that app (well, any app. A friend let me use their smart phone when I ran and I'm not sure I can afford it, so many uses I never learned.)

I know some law enforcement down in our neck of the woods would consider such a move to be a threat to their existence....

Sheriff Tim Helder said in a statement that Cpl. Brad Robinson was getting a tire repaired at Tire Tracks when an unidentified man pulled a knife from a backpack and began walking toward him Wednesday afternoon.

Helder says Robinson pulled his gun, backed up and told the man to stop, then opened fire when the man lunged toward him with the knife. The man died at the scene.
