An Omaha woman was ticketed Tuesday on suspicion of two counts of animal cruelty after a Chihuahua was found frozen in her backyard and another dog had to be rescued.
Maria S. Roubideaux, 24, was ticketed by animal control officers from the Nebraska Humane Society. A tip Tuesday night led the officers to her home at 5026 S. 18th St.
Officers located two Chihuahuas on tethers in the backyard, said Mark Langan, vice president of field operations for the shelter. One dog was deceased. The tethers were tangled between a fence and pole, limiting the dogs ability to move. There was no shelter immediately available for the dogs.
If convicted, Roubideaux faces up to six months in jail and a $500 fine on each count.

Rest in peace, little one. May justice (and karma) be swift.
