Michelle Obama Tells Oprah: 'Now We're Feeling What Not Having Hope Feels Like'

Source: Mediaite

by Lindsey Ellefson 12:33 pm, December 16th, 2016

During an interview with Oprah, First Lady Michelle Obama talked a lot about the hope that propelled her husband into the presidency.

Oprah who gave a couched [link:http://www.mediaite.com/online/oprah-seeing-trump-with-obama-gave-me-hope/endorsement] to Donald Trump after he won the election because seeing him interact with President Barack Obama gave her hope asked the FLOTUS if she thought the Obama administration had truly delivered hope to the people, which led to her saying this:

[div class"excerpt"]I do, because we feel the difference now. See, now, were feeling what not having hope feels like I feel Barack has been that for the nation in ways that people will come to appreciate. Having a grown-up in the White House who can say to you in times of crisis and turmoil, Hey, its going to be okay. Lets remember the good things that we have.

The thinly-veiled swipe at Trump, who tends to fly off the handle on Twitter when something happens that upsets him, was a sort of extension of her [link:http://www.mediaite.com/tv/michelle-obama-rips-trump-he-humiliates-women-as-if-were-objects-for-entertainment/fiery campaign speeches] for Hillary Clinton during the election. Barack didnt just talk about hope because he thought it was just a nice slogan to get votes, she said.

especially when you consider Republicans are almost to the point where they have enough state legislatures under their control that they can amend the constitution. Yes, that Constitution. Say goodbye to abortion and gay marriage. Say hello to Christianity being the only recognized religion.

When Obama won he brought the HOPE in bushels. We can argue just how much of that hope as defined by various segments thought he fulfilled, but yes, he brought the HOPE bigtime. It was a heady day in November, especially after the last disastrous Republican administration.

Now there is only a feeling of HOPELESSNESS and dread.

Either it's read almost solely by deplorables or they're the only ones bothering to leave comments. They are some bigly sick puppies.

And personally I am having a very hard time to feel any hope for the future right now. Michelle Obama's point is very valid.

cannot afford a decent editor. Take this sentence, for example:

"Oprah who gave a couched to Donald Trump after he won the election"

I may be petty, but the minute I see horrible mistakes like this, I immediately dismiss the source.

At the original article, there's a hyperlinked word, "endorsement," following "couched," which did not get included when the OP copied and pasted the article text.

Get to witness the red hats skipping around in lolly land, all happy they got a victory. Meanwhile, nations around the world are preparing for war and our economic indicators are freezing up.

It's like reliving Pearl Harbor and the republican economic crash of 2007 - 2009 all over again.

WHY DO WE KEEP REPEATING THE ERRORS OF HISTORY!!!

of what the majority of Americans are feeling. Having a mentally disabled child in the White Supremacists House is bad enough, but the dregs of the earth he has unearthed are trundling towards and pushing us closer to the abyss.
