House GOP eyes food stamp overhaul, possible requirements

Source: Associated Press

Dec. 7, 2016 11:50 AM ET

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans are laying the groundwork for a fresh effort to overhaul the food stamp program during Donald Trump's presidency, with the possibility of new work and eligibility requirements for millions of people.

The GOP majority on the House Agriculture Committee released a two-year review of the program on Wednesday that stops short of making specific policy recommendations, but hints at areas where Republicans could focus: strengthening work requirements and perhaps issuing new ones, tightening some eligibility requirements or providing new incentives to encourage food stamp recipients to buy healthier foods.

No pizza, no bagels, no cakes or pies, no ice cream, no cream, no cheese (except Velveeta is ok), no cottage cheese, no fruit, no salad dressing, no mustard, no mayo, no condiments (except salt is ok), because these foods are only for people with money.

But white bread, beans, rice, and cabbage, and hot dogs are ok. Bon appetit!

are lucky to even get 20 dollars a month here in Florida. Even though they really have nothing. Live in real poverty. Of course we have a Republican Governor so what do you expect. Soon they will have dig mass graves to get rid of all these people.

Republicans would rather shame the poor than address the causes of poverty. The GOP has become the party of, at best, cruel indifference.

Some states have incentive programs with local farmers markets where snap benefits count for double. $10 worth of fresh veggies for $5 would bring nutritious whole, fresh foods to people who couldn't afford them before. Expanding this program to a national level would undoubtedly help farmers, small business people and the hungry alike.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if they just push drug testing, work requirements and cut bulk purchases of staples like rice and beans. Gotta reinforce that idea that the poor are all just lazy drug users so they deserve their lot in life. No need to help or empathize or even try to understand basic economics if you can just blame them.

This is a public service announcement
With guitar
Know your rights
All three of them

Number one
You have the right not to be killed
Murder is a crime
Unless it was done
By a policeman
Or an aristocrat
Oh, know your rights

And number two
You have the right to food money
Providing of course
You don't mind a little
Investigation, humiliation
And if you cross your fingers
Rehabilitation

Know your rights
These are your rights
Hey, say, Wang

Oh, know these rights

Number three
You have the right to free speech
As long as
You're not dumb enough to actually try it

Know your rights
These are your rights
Oh, know your rights
These are your rights
All three of 'em
Ha!
It has been suggested in some quarters
That this is not enough
Well

Get off the streets
Run
Get off the streets

It's what Jim Adkisson did, of course, the end conclusion for him was walking into a church to kill the liberals.

It's a vicious circle:
* Vote for cuts, to get the "undeserving" away from social programs
* People like Trump voters get cut, but instead of thinking that they are the "undeserving" they hate so much, it must really be because the 'other' is manipulating the system or the welfare system has a preference for giving them aid, and so they...
