Florida voters sue for recount
Source: USA Today
TALLAHASSEE Three central Florida voters are mounting an unlikely bid to overturn the presidential election result in the Sunshine State.
In a lawsuit filed Monday in Leon Circuit Court, they assert that Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump, actually won Florida. The plaintiffs, who live in Osceola and Volusia counties, say the states official election results were off because of hacking, malfunctioning voting machines and other problems.
They're asking for a hand recount of every paper ballot in Florida, at the expense of defendants including Trump, Gov. Rick Scott and the 29 Republican presidential electors from Florida.
But even lawyers for the plaintiffs acknowledge time isnt on their side. Clint Curtis, an Orlando attorney representing the plaintiffs, said the defendants may not respond by the time the Electoral College meets on Dec. 19.
"They can ignore it entirely, he said.
He said he has received a deluge of reports from voters across the state of problems on election day, including people being turned away at the polls and told theyd already voted. Florida Division of Elections officials reported only a few "minor issues" on election day.

(1,551 posts)put them on the curb for garbage day. Then the ENTIRE Country uses paper ballots that are hand counted TWICE.

(30,613 posts)We should get one of those.
There needs to be a nationwide standard for voting and paper ballots are the only way to go.

(6,344 posts)Plus, while all this recounting is going on in the country, President Obama can stay on until he passes the leadership to Clinton. And his administration could stay until she transitions to hers.

(675 posts)if ALL the votes were counted Hillary would be the next President.
Hopefully these recounts will continue until after the electors vote denying trump the 270 necessary for him to win.

(30,613 posts)No, the machine vendors claim nobody has the right to inspect their proprietary code, and our government seems to be perfectly OK with that. We need to ban all electronic voting machines, pronto.

(2,642 posts)It is terribly sad to see people thrashing about and carrying on about this loss.
In the meantime all of this money and effort could have been spent to make sure minority voters get the necessary documents to vote in voter ID states.
The money and energy could have been spent finding and preparing candidates for the 2018 election. The campaign started almost a month ago and people haven't started staking their ground.
The money and energy could have been used to reinforce LGBT organizations and get their message out so that people who see hate speech will stand against it.
It could have been spent on anything other than crying over spilt milk. We lost. Time to put on our work boots (as I heard one Transgender woman say yeasterday on Fresh Air) and get to work.

(2,642 posts)There is not one documented case of vote tampering, hacking, or fraud. Not one. Just the delusions of a few who cannot bear to accept that their fellow countrymen elected dipshit mcorange.
On the other hand, there were likely people disenfranchised by voter suppression and voter ID laws. We know that to almost certainly be true.
Let's address real problems instead of fantasies, and get these people WHATEVER they need to get their voter ID.
SCOTUS upheld them once, and with his nominee sure to be seated, we need to get these people their ID cards so they can vote!!! Why isn't the Democratic Party putting resources into a nationwide campaign to get every American the records or help they need to get a voter ID????!??

BTW cross check and voter ID were put inti place in order to stop blacks, hispanics, and democrats from
voting because the cover story about stopping people from voting twice is pure bull shit. Especially
"cross check" because the idea that somebody votes in OH and then goes to Missouri and votes again
is laughable.
Starting in 2013 just as the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act a coterie of Trump operatives, under the direction of Kris Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State, created a system to purge 1.1 million Americans of color from the voter rolls of GOPcontrolled states.
The system, called Crosscheck, is detailed in my Rolling Stone report,
The GOPs Stealth War on Voters, 8/24/2016.
Crosscheck in action:
Trump victory margin in Michigan: 13,107
Michigan Crosscheck purge list: 449,922
Trump victory margin in Arizona: 85,257
Arizona Crosscheck purge list: 270,824
Trump victory margin in North Carolina: 177,008
North Carolina Crosscheck purge list: 589,393
On Tuesday, we saw Crosscheck elect a Republican Senate and as President, Donald Trump. The electoral putsch was aided by nine other methods of attacking the right to vote of Black, Latino and Asian-American voters, methods detailed in my book and film, including Caging, purging, blocking legitimate registrations, and wrongly shunting millions to provisional ballots that will never be counted.

(2,642 posts)This is an orchestrated effort to deny people their right to vote.
I'm talking about the allegations of fraud at the polls (hacking, tampering, etc.)
Crosscheck and voter ID fall into the same category: efforts which must be opposed at every turn, but spending millions of dollars on a recount will have absolutely no effect on.
I thought I made that abundantly clear.

(2,642 posts)They weren't allowed to cast a vote. That is not an issue with "counting" votes.
I would appreciate it if you would stop trying to put words in my mouth. Crosscheck and voter ID laws need to be addressed. I am NOT talking about those issues.
I am talking about this made up, bogus "issue" of tampering with ballots or vote counts.
Botany
(70,504 posts).... then I don't what tampering w/the vote is.
In Michigan 88,000 people voted but they skipped voting for POTUS ansd >70% of that
