Trump considering Palin to lead Veterans Affairs
Source: Politico
Donald Trump is considering tapping former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as his secretary of Veterans Affairs, according to two Trump transition sources.
Palin was an early endorser of Trump, throwing her support to him before the Iowa caucuses, making her one of his highest profile backers at the time. Are you ready for the leader to make America great again? she said then.
Palin, who, like Trump, has been a lightning rod for liberal criticism, campaigned for Trump through the campaigns final days, including in Michigan.
Among her chief competitors for the Veterans Affairs post, according to one transition source, is former Sen. Scott Brown, another relatively early Trump backer, who visited the president-elect in Trump Tower earlier this month.

(825 posts)One group you don't want to piss off is vets. Total ineptitude at the top of Veterans Affairs should do it.
In truth I hope vets don't suffer but if this house of cards is going to crumble Palin should make it happen sooner rather than later.

(130,974 posts)VoteVets are out against this, obviously. It goes without saying that this is a complete non-starter for veterans, military family members, and those who support them. Not only was she a failed governor who quit her job early, but she is on the record in favor of a plan that will turn veterans health care into a voucher program.
If this happens, we need to be fast and forceful in our opposition, and do it in a way that elevates the voices of veterans above the partisan fray. Help us get to work:
Make a $3 contribution to VoteVets right now as a way to help us elevate the voices of veterans in the campaign to stop Sarah Palin from becoming the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
Trump has made a number of terrible cabinet picks already -- many that fly in the face of populist pledges he made on the campaign trail. But this one ... Sarah Palin ... could be the worst yet. Certainly for veterans who depend on the government for care and benefits we earned in service.
All my best,

OK, so, Imagine that you see trump at the top of Trump Towers, laughing at all he sees below him, grabbing another dead fish from a large basket. Below him sit thousands of hungry newsies, most of whom ignored the defects and the dangers from Trump. Then, imagine Trump throwing the dead fish to them, laughing as they fight over it.
That is precisely what trump is doing with these kind of announcements. To the media and to us.

Make no mistake. I don't wish suffering on anyone and don't look forward to what she'll do to veterans' healthcare, but it's also time people understand that you get the government you elect.
