U.S. Officials Defend Integrity of Vote, Despite Hacking Fears

Source: NYTimes

"WASHINGTON The Obama administration said on Friday that despite Russian attempts to undermine the presidential election, it has concluded that the results accurately reflect the will of the American people.

The statement came as liberal opponents of Donald J. Trump, some citing fears of vote hacking, are seeking recounts in three states Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania where his margin of victory was extremely thin.

A drive by Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, for recounts in those states had brought in more than 5 million by midday on Friday, her campaign said, and had increased its goal to 7 million. She filed for a recount in Wisconsin on Friday, about an hour before the deadline.

In its statement, the administration said, The Kremlin probably expected that publicity surrounding the disclosures that followed the Russian government-directed compromises of emails from U.S. persons and institutions, including from U.S. political organizations, would raise questions about the integrity of the election process that could have undermined the legitimacy of the president-elect.

was actually tampered with.
If it was tampered with by Russia hopefully this recount will uncover that followed shortly by massive economic sanctions against Russia and any country that supports them.

...to guarantee the integrity of the vote?

1) you can be damn sure the administration knows more about the russian hacking than it is letting on.
2) it would be perfectly appropriate for the dept of justice to investigate claims of voting irregularities PROMPTLY, yet they appear to be leaving it to private citizens.
3) most likely, they are refusing to engage any questions about vote integrity for political reasons (not wanting to appear to be "sore losers&quot .
4) you admit the election might be proved to have been tampered with, but you're willing to have trump remain president as long as there are sanctions. Whose going to put those sanctions into place...trump?

in order to keep the government working properly.
Ya, Trump isnt in my top 5 billion pick for president either but on the other hand its looking more and more like he is going to be president ............sorry where was I? Oh, yea. Anyway as I was saying it looks like he is going to be president so Obama is simply doing what past presidents have done which is to try and make it an orderly transition.
If they had uncovered major hacking by the Russians though I suspect that there would have been an announcement of such but that doesnt mean something fishy didnt happen.
After all the GOP does have a history rigging with gerrymandering states and passing laws that are designed to put as many hurdles as possible in front of voters who might tend to vote for Democrats so it wouldnt surprise me if we learned that there was also a coordinated effort on their part to hide or conceal a massive number of Clinton votes in order to insure a Trump victory.

which, to me, would start with an audit of the national vote. I wouldn't expect any outcomes to be overturned, but it would say that the election officials are willing to look at their overall systems and results, and how they might do better. The last couple of decades have had too many examples of likely systemic fraud at the state level, and an unwillingness to even look at things just encourages more.

I don't expect anything to come of the recounts except the acceptance that there is nothing to see here folks, everything is just great, go about your normal routines and wait for the next election. Nobody will guarantee your vote was counted properly in this election nor will they do anything to assure it will be in the next one.

After the Russian DNC hack?

After the latest reports of Russian attempts to hack DC think tanks on election night?

Truth is, even if Russia didn't hack the vote, they hacked the minds of the voters. And even with all of that working against her, HRC still got 2M+ more votes than Dump. So don't fucking tell me this accurately reflects the will of the American people.

Why is the administration so eager to stop people from asking these questions? They think they're bolstering confidence in our institutions when in fact it's exactly the opposite.

Until people in power start fighting back against
gerrymandering, voter suppression, and hacking,
those of us who want a decent country will just
get screwed along with those who were too stupid
or hateful to vote for their own interests.
