Chaffetz Says Congress Not Finished Investigating Clinton's Email Use

Source: Talking Points Memo

FBI Director James Comey's Sunday letter announcing that a new review of emails did not change the FBI's conclusion about Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server will not stop Congress from continuing to investigate the former secretary of state, according to Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT).

"We’re going to keep after this until we get to the truth. We don’t have it yet," Chaffetz, chair of the House Oversight Committee, said on Fox News Sunday night.

The congressman told Fox News that he was not surprised by Comey's Sunday announcement but that the letter left unanswered questions about the investigation into Clinton's email use.

"I don’t know that it’s surprising that they came to the same conclusion that Hillary Clinton was so careless with classified information, this mess that she created," he said. "I was actually more surprised ten days ago to announce that they were looking at new information. But I still have a lot of questions: Is that new information? Is that classified? What other people are implicated? How many other instances were there? We don’t know the answer to any of those questions," Chaffetz continued.

...that's all they can do. They have a terribly shitty candidate who has alienated almost every ethnic group through his endless ramblings, they have less money, less support, less intelligent people on staff, and no message other than "Hillary is a crook". And they can't even come up with anything to make that stick. End result.......LOSERS!

Why Can Rep. Jason Chaffetz Use Personal Email, But Hillary Clinton Can’t?

House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), left, and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. CREDIT: AP PHOTOS

............................ Why are members of agencies such as the State Department required to use government email accounts, while members of Congress are not?

The answer lies in federal open records laws — most of which don’t apply to Congress.

The Associated Press (AP) reported on this extensively last year, finding that members of Congress aren’t required to “use official email accounts, or to retain, archive or store their emails, while in office or after.” The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) — the law that allows the public to request internal documents from government agencies — for example, does not cover members of Congress. Congress is also not subject to the Federal Records Act, which requires all federal agency employees to keep accurate records of their activities.

Federal agency employees, of course, include Clinton, who was found to have violated the Federal Records Act by using a private email server while serving as secretary of state.

The reason Congress is not subject to these rules, however, is because Congress makes its own rules. And Congress has never decided that it needs a law requiring its members to maintain records and make those records available to the public...............

If anyone needs to be investigated it should be Guilliani, Gowdy, Jordan and CHAFFETZ!!! Those 4 have done the country a DISSERVICE with wasting our taxpayer money on BULLSHIT investigations that are totally uncalled for!! Guilliani needs to be hung from a tree and drawn and quartered!! Then let's go after Faux so-called news.. Maybe Brett Baier for using his program to promote more BULLSHIT about those FBI e-mails..

Instead of more (or including?) Benghazi public hearings, now it will be endless Email-gate investigations.

If nothing else to cloud her reputation and Democrats reputation in general in order to win at the very least control of both houses for the mid-terms and make sure she doesn't win a second term.

Somehow Democrats, because the media seems incapable of it, have to enlighten the public as to how much time and their own money they have spent on Benghazi already. Uselessly spent. And then project just how much of their money and the time of their Republican representative will be spending on this email shite in coming years.
