Gowdy Responds to Harry Reid’s Slam on Comey: ‘I Did Not Know Mormons Use Drugs’
Source: Mediaite
Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC) fired back at Harry Reid last night after the Senate Minority Leader suggested that James Comey broke federal laws with his announcement about Hillary Clinton.
In a letter Reid put out last night, he accused the FBI director of practicing a double standard and using his position to spread negative innuendo in order to influence the election. Foxs Bret Baier asked Gowdy for his thoughts on Sunday night, to which, the congressman wondered if Reid is the one whos really under the influence.
Thank God hes leaving, is my initial reaction, Gowdy said. My second reaction is: I did not know Mormons used drugs. And anyone who is capable of sending out that press release has to be under the influence of something.
Howdy went on to say that Clinton authored her own actions by having a private server while she worked as the secretary of state.

(4,742 posts)Of course if the FBI Director put out BS on Trump 11 days before the election HE would have written the same letter. Partisan hackery and hypocrisy at its finest.

(2,966 posts)Even more so since he's my congressman. GAG! I just donated to Chris Fedelai, his Democratic opponent, though the chance of Gowdy losing is slim. I can still hope, I guess.

Some where in the neighborhood of about 40 persons. Realize Gowdy's I.Q. is about Ice Cube Temp, going to be interesting. What say you Orin Hatch or Mike Lee and others.

(14,838 posts)not harry, but drug abuse is a huge problem among mormons in utah. Not kidding about that.
gowdy is too stupid to know that though, so he makes a bad joke.
For example...
1. Out of all 50 US states, Utah has the eighth-highest prescription overdose death rate.
(Source: Utahs Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health)
In a community where most inhabitants try to live a clean, healthy lifestyle, prescription medications often fall into a gray area, with many people believing they are safe and acceptable. Unfortunately, the addictiveness of many prescription pills, including opioid pain medications in particular, has led to Utah becoming one of the most addicted states in the nation.
2. Pill-related deaths in Utah have increased by 400 percent in the past decade.
(Source: Utahs Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health)
While most people will be surprised by this statistic, medical professionals and policymakers who have been following the trend of prescription drug abuse will not be. According to a report by the Trust for Americas Health (TFAH), prescription drug related deaths nationwide now outnumber deaths from cocaine and heroin combined.
3. With 60 percent of Utah residents being members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, many people affected by pill addiction in Utah are Mormon.
(Source: CNN.com)
Drug use is strictly forbidden in the LDS community, but many people dont view medications prescribed by a doctor as being an illicit substance. Sadly, many drug addictions start innocently, with an injured or sick person simply seeking relief from their painful symptoms. In the worst cases, some pill addicts eventually turn to street drugs like heroin when they realize it is a cheaper way to get their fix
