Exclusive: FBI still does not have warrant to review new Clinton emails
Source: Yahoo News
FBI Director James Comey wrote his bombshell letter to Congress on Friday about newly discovered emails that were potentially pertinent to the investigation into Hillary Clintons private email server before agents were able to review any of the material because the bureau had not yet gotten a search warrant to read them, three government officials who have been briefed on the probe told Yahoo News.
When Comey wrote the letter, he had no idea what was in the content of the emails, one of the officials said, referring to recently discovered emails that were found on the laptop of disgraced ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin. Weiner is under investigation for allegedly sending illicit text messages to a 15-year-old girl.
As of Saturday night, the FBI had still not gotten approval from the Justice Department for a warrant that would allow them to read any of the newly discovered Abedin emails, and therefore are still in the dark about whether they include any classified material that the bureau has not already seen.

Nor should Comey get a warrant.

You might remember the documentary Outrage from a few years back. Really paints a picture of today's GOP, sadly.

I remember reading that the day his death was announced, half of Manhattan threw a party. Far be from me to dance on someone's grave, but Cohn certainly hurt a lot of people.

I could've done a better job on the Hoover dress; the neck looks too smooth; but it was just a rush to get the point across. The woman, by the way, is Betty Furness.

(4,033 posts)I have no idea of whether it has anything incriminating or has anything to do with Hillary's email server. But I'm sending an email to Mr. Comey in case he wants to write another letter to Congress saying it might, perhaps, potentially have something to do with her server. It could be relevant, since I have received both email and snail mail from her asking me to donate to her campaign.

(34,576 posts)There is no evidence that they are "Clinton" emails. I get that the headline writer wants to communicate with non-political-enthusiast readers so that they know which emails the article is discussing. But this practice perpetuates the wrong of Comey's innuendo.

This is getting murky

(7,664 posts)Not granting him a warrant will slow down the release of any favorable information way past the election, which may be the case anyway but then he would have an excuse for sure.
Right now, people not familiar with how any of this works (most people) assume the worst. I really hope those saying there's no connection to HRC are right, but how do we know this for sure? Because some FBI "source" said so to someone?
As I've stated elsewhere, all the Dems need to go balls out, screaming crazy about how this is unfair, interfering with an election, violation of the Hatch Act from the surrogates on up to the AG and DOJ. File lawsuits, be on TV every second available like the GrOPers do all the time. Being nice has never worked for us and this is an emergency.

(5,955 posts)He has absolutely no probable cause. No evidence that there is anything illegal in Abedin's emails. Congress sent the FBI out to determine if CLINTON sent classified documents from a non-secured server, and they found basically no evidence of that.
That being said, Abedin HERSELF should probably give them permission to look at her emails. Because if they're not looked at, the GOP will continue to claim there's evidence of wrong doing in there.

An official told Isikoff that Comey had no idea what was in the content of the emails when he sent his letter to Congress on Friday advising them that he is reviewing new materials that may prove pertinent to the investigation against Clinton.

And being a married couple, they were sending email back and forth about the preparations and maybe if they would make an extra donation or not, because it was an f'n charity in which the money actually went to the cause, rather than to pay off lawsuits and pay for a new plane.
So, whatever they emailed to each other may prove pertinent to the witch-hunt, err, investigation against Clinton.
