Obama commutes sentences of 98 inmates

Source: The Hill

By Lydia Wheeler and Jordan Fabian - 10/27/16 04:05 PM EDT

President Obama has commuted the sentences of 98 inmates, the White House announced Thursday. It was Obama’s eighth round of commutations this year, bringing him to a total of 872 since taking office — more than the past 11 presidents combined. He's commuted the sentences of 688 inmates this year alone.

The latest round of commutations is part of Obama’s effort to free prisoners serving lengthy sentences handed down during the government's war on drugs.

According to the Department of Justice, there were 11,253 petitions pending as of Oct. 6, but not all of those are from inmates that fit the criteria for clemency.

Only non-violent, low-level offenders, who have served at least 10 years of their federal sentence, demonstrated good behavior and have no significant criminal history or a history of violence are eligible.

If you have enough money and friends you can get nations to travel across to the other side of the world to kill innocent native people to supplant your troves in ill gotten gains.

It's not who wants to say but more of who is pointing the guns

Karl Rove targeted him because he was unbeatable in an election.

"I haven't seen a case with this many red flags on it that pointed towards a real injustice being done," says Grant Woods, the former Republican attorney general of Arizona.

"a Republican lawyer from Alabama, Jill Simpson, has come forward to claim that the Siegelman prosecution was part of a five-year secret campaign to ruin the governor. Simpson told 60 Minutes she did what's called "opposition research" for the Republican party. She says during a meeting in 2001, Karl Rove, President Bush's senior political advisor, asked her to try to catch Siegelman cheating on his wife."

Maybe Pres. Obama is holding off until after Nov 8, maybe never but Don has been in prison long enough on Trumped up charges.

He is scheduled for release on 8 August 2017. Every time he talks to the press they throw him in solitary confinement for a few months.

that the Republican party hasn't been a political party since the 70's, its been an organized group of corporatist terrorists who will stop at nothing to destroy this democracy. Don Siegelman is just one of many thousands, maybe millions of victims of this terrorist organisation. Not sure why the President or the Democratic party in general hasn't confronted these terrorist more but hopefully this will change after Nov 8th.
