FRESNO, Calif. — A Fresno man was sentenced to 1,503 years in prison for raping his teenage daughter over a four-year period.

The 41-year-old was sentenced Friday to the longest-known prison sentence in Fresno Superior Court history, the Fresno Bee reported.

The Associated Press is not naming the man because it could identify his daughter. The AP does not name victims of sexual abuse.

In announcing the punishment, Judge Edward Sarkisian Jr. told the man he is a “serious danger to society” and noted that he had never shown remorse and has blamed his daughter for his predicament.

3. Such a staggeringly huge sentence! Makes me wonder what kind of evidence there was.

She must have had some serious evidence that nailed his coffin shut for good. That POS is going to have one seriously f-ed up time in prison.

4. They offered him 13 years. He turned them down. The evidence was substantial.

The daughter kept a diary throughout her childhood and recorded many of the assaults. He also impregnated her and forced her to get an abortion, and the state had her medical records from that. And, as a coup de grace, when she finally moved out, he started leaving her voicemails and messages professing his love for her and claiming that they were meant to be together...she still had those.

Still, the state offered him 13 years as a plea bargain, to save her from having to testify in court. He turned them down and blamed the whole thing on her. Just before the trial started, they offered him another plea bargain that would have given him 22 years if he'd just plead guilty at that point. He counteroffered, offering to plead guilty only if they would agree to limit the sentence to the roughly three years he'd already been incarcerated at that point. They turned him down.

They filed a charge against him for each instance of rape documented in the diary. When he forced his daughter to sit through the trial and blamed her again for the whole thing, the prosecutors asked that he be handed the maximum sentence for each charge. The judge agreed.

This guy earned every one of those years. Even when his guilt was obvious and it was apparent that he wasn't going to get away with it, he STILL refused to do the right thing and instead chose to force his daughter to relive her suffering again by making her testify against him. And then sit there and listen while he blamed it on her again.

So the judge made an example out of him. And that's not a bad thing .

There's a difference between a case with good evidence and one with weak evidence.

Between a case that involves actual penetration and one that involves a less form of sexual assault that doesn't involve carnal knowledge. Some consider inappropriate forced touching to be the same as penetration and ejaculation. They're not the same.

Between a case where the perp insists that he did nothing wrong, either denying clear evidence or somehow implying that his sense of morality is far out of line with society's and a case in which the perp shows remorse and cooperates with investigators.

Between a chronic, repeated raping and a one-off event.

Between a small child that is defenseless and a grown woman who, presumably, doesn't need to be treated like a defenseless woman with no responsibility.

Then there are differences in laws from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Some don't pay attention to these "details". Whatever stokes their outrage and overworks their adrenals, I guess.

Which is exactly WHY they are a danger to society and also why I don't believe those people who think there can be a pedophile that doesn't act on his/her sick urges, because of that delusional rationalization.
