Indiana Election Official Clarifies Registration Fraud Probe
Source: abcnews.com
A day after warning of potential widespread voting fraud, Indiana's secretary of state acknowledged Wednesday that many of the thousands of altered registration records she flagged might just be residents rushing to correct their names or birth dates ahead of the election.
Republican Secretary of State Connie Lawson told The Associated Press she wanted Indiana State Police to investigate to ensure there was no widespread fraud after her office found a heavier than usual number of changes to voter registration records this election cycle.
"It's very possible that because of heightened activity this year that many of those changes are changes that the individual made," Lawson told the AP. "... That should give Indiana voters the comfort that we are vigilant and we are protecting their rights and the elections here are not rigged."
But other state elections officials said voter registration changes are not only routine but common.

(28,017 posts)I read that some voters in Indiana are willing to vote for Trump-Pence just to move Pence out of office and out of Indiana.

(1,397 posts)Several months ago, the State Board of Election in Virginia, opened their voter registration files so anyone can go online to check their registration and, if need be, change name, address, etc.
The result was a deluge of people "just checking" -- looking up their record and making no changes. Overwhelmed the system to the point where local registrars who were trying to enter new registrations, update old registrations, and the like, were not able to access the system.

(35,703 posts)So it was all a big misunderstanding? They had the Indiana State Police investigating. I wonder how much that cost? Maybe Pence should get his butt back to Indiana and explain to the people of Indiana just WTF is going on.

(192 posts)The reporter from our local community radio station asked her for total number of questionable registrations and she said thousands. So he asked over how long a period of time and she said she couldn't answer because of the investigation. He asked how the number this year compared to past years and she said she couldn't answer due to the investigation. Was the number higher this year, but still the same percentage as previous years relative to the number of people who checked their registration or registered anew this year? She couldn't answer due to investigation. One hundred percent smoke - no fire. Indiana state employees are made up of plenty of these Republican dim bulbs. It's rigged - just like Trump said, I found the "evidence" OMG!
