Poll: Hillary Clinton won the second debate

Source: Politico

Hillary Clinton won the second debate and leads Donald Trump by five points in a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll that also shows voters perceive the Republican Party bitterly divided four weeks before Election Day.

Clinton leads Trump in the four-way race for the presidency among likely voters, 42 percent to 37 percent, with Gary Johnson at 10 percent and Jill Stein at three percent. In the initial two-way ballot, Clinton's lead is also five points, 46 percent to 41 percent.

But in addition to Trump's deficit — which is actually smaller in the POLITICO/Morning Consult poll than in some other public surveys — there are other warning signs for Republicans. Democrats have a five-point on the generic congressional ballot, 44 percent to 39 percent. Three-quarters of all voters, and 76 percent of Republicans, say the GOP is divided today, compared with only 10 percent who say it is united.

"In the first poll taken since the debate, voters say Clinton performed better than Trump and we see her lead grow, but not by the same margins it did after the first debate," said Kyle Dropp, Morning Consult's co-founder and chief research officer. "What has skyrocketed is that three quarters of Republicans now view their party as divided. That is up 20 points since the GOP convention in Cleveland."

Compete in a debate. He had another chance to talk about issues he chose not to do this I would live to see questions about issues, a Hillary strong point, I love to hear her talking on the issues.

The Trumpbasket seem to think you win a debate by splattering opponents with random invectives rather than presenting more capable and persuasive positions and policies. No wonder they lost.

That 90% of the time he babbled incoherently during responses when he wasn't snorting like a rhino, that he walked around around the stage like a menacing stalker was just all liberal bias.

He said she would be in jail, so he won.

End of story.

5. When has Trump EVER had a coherent discussion on any policy?

He is not capable of that.

Ultimately his demise results from people deciding this would be (Trump's favorite word) a DISASTER to have a person like that in the White House.

I expect that will be Hillary's closing argument the last 2 weeks of the campaign. Basically "You have seen all you need to see, You may not agree with me on every policy, but I will serve as President under the laws and the political norms that we have had since our country was founded. I will respect our democracy and I will govern carefully and responsibly. America cannot not take the risk of having Donald Trump representing us and having his finger on the nuclear button."

A sober message to close this thing out.

I could not understand why the pundits on TV where trying to say that Trump did well and won on style... I was like, what are they thinking?? They must have been given a script where they were supposed to say Trump won to keep the race more interesting. Both CNN and MSNBC commentators were in the tank on that one until some more lucid pundits called BS (for example James Carville who proceeded to excoriate the panel about it)

Its like a Mark Burnett reality show. If there are three rounds, if one wins the first round, then the other one HAS to be declared the winner in the second, in order to build tension for the third round. Standard reality TV tactics.
