McCain rescinds Trump support
Source: Politico
After supporting Donald Trump through inflammatory statements for months, Sen. John McCain has had enough.
The Arizona Republican and 2008 GOP presidential nominee said in a statement to POLITICO that he cannot support Trump any longer after published audio of him demeaning women and making sexually lewd statements.
"I have wanted to support the candidate our party nominated. He was not my choice, but as a past nominee, I thought it important I respect the fact that Donald Trump won a majority of the delegates by the rules our party set. I thought I owed his supporters that deference," McCain said. "But Donald Trumps behavior this week, concluding with the disclosure of his demeaning comments about women and his boasts about sexual assaults, make it impossible to continue to offer even conditional support for his candidacy. Cindy, with her strong background in human rights and respect for women, fully agrees with me in this."
McCain said he and Cindy McCain will not vote Hillary Clinton and will instead write in "some good conservative Republican who is qualified to be president."

(34,582 posts)most have spoken of being upset about the words, but ignoring the sexual assault. Either way, McCain is still an idiot.

(26,270 posts)He might face blow back from Trumparians in his district, now. Of course, I think that would be lovely, but that doesn't make it any dumber, on his part.

(9,688 posts)as are Kelly Ayotte and many of the other Republican senators who are now belatedly speaking out.
Does anyone have the time to check out the statements of all the Republican senators up for re-election? I bet there's a pretty high correlation between the tightness of their re-election campaign and their willingness to (finally) say something.

The way this is being framed, is very irritating.

I wonder which "good conservative Republican" he'll actually vote for?
Are there any "good" conservative Republicans anymore?
I like Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) because he's one of the few Senate Republicans who will actually talk to Congressional Democrats.

(5 posts)forcing these nasty republican congress men to abandon trump. Trump is the man in the mirror for the entire party policies and disdain for the American citizens and residents.
