Steven Woolfe in 'serious condition' after altercation at Ukip meeting (Ukip punch up)

Source: The Guardian

The Ukip leadership favourite, Steven Woolfe, has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after collapsing following an altercation during a meeting of the party’s MEPs in Strasbourg.

The North West England MEP is said to have been taken ill at the parliament in Strasbourg on Thursday after apparently being involved in a fight with fellow MEP Mike Hookem.

Ukip’s interim leader, Nigel Farage, said: “I deeply regret that following an altercation that took place at a meeting of Ukip MEPs this morning that Steven Woolfe subsequently collapsed and was taken to hospital. His condition is serious.”

A source close to the party said the altercation had followed a tense meeting of UKIP MEPs where Woolfe had been confronted by Hookem over reports that he had considered defecting to the Conservatives.

Of course, I'm sure the quality of people leading that party is what led to this.

From early reports, it sounds like a serious head injury after a fall during an alleged fistfight with UKIP defence spokesman Mike Hookem. Woolfe is currently in hospital after complaining of loss of feeling on the left side of his body, fitting twice, then collapsing unconscious, but the latest report is that he's regained consciousness.

for the next debate. He is also a debate guest of Trump's. Maybe not now of course.

Get ready for it. He is advising Trump on how to rise above the cat fight.

UKIP's Steven Woolfe says he's 'fine' after altercation

6 October 2016 UK Politics

UKIP leadership hopeful Steven Woolfe says he is recovering in hospital after a reported fight at a meeting of the party's MEPs.

The party released a statement from Mr Woolfe from his Strasbourg hospital bed saying he was sitting up having undergone a precautionary brain scan.

UKIP sources said "punches were exchanged" during the row at a party meeting and Mr Woolfe banged his head.

He was taken to hospital two hours later after collapsing, sources said.
