Giuliani Calls Donald Trump a Genius for Minimizing His Taxes

Source: MSN/NY Times

Donald J. Trump’s use of tax provisions to minimize what he pays in federal income taxes makes him “a genius,” Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and close adviser to the Republican presidential nominee, said on Sunday.

Speaking on several morning news shows, Mr. Giuliani vigorously dismissed a New York Times report that revealed Mr. Trump had declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 tax returns, which could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income taxes over an 18-year period.

“The man’s a genius,” Mr. Giuliani said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “He knows how to operate the tax code for the people that he’s serving.”

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who battled for the Democratic nomination with Mrs. Clinton, said that far from making Mr. Trump a genius as his allies suggested, the disclosure about Mr. Trump’s taxes illustrated the unfair and unequal advantage given to wealthy Americans.

Of course, this is not enough for Trump. He wants to cut taxes further, including avoiding paying any estate tax.

No matter how you spin it. Especially when you consider that was during the Bill Clinton years and the economy was moving up.

"The Donald" would have been flushed down the old commode if the banksters weren't worried about losing even more money if they didn't save his ass. Wonder how many are lining up to lend money to him now?

10. And why did Giuliani keep talking about his obligation to his sharholders and business partners?

We are talking PERSONAL income tax not income tax for his businesses. This was personal income tax if I read the NYT story correctly. No shareholders or boards should be involved in his personal income tax. Trump, his campaign and his surrogates are such disgusting shysters ...

They take the deductions they're allowed. I know I do. Standard deduction, deduction for dependents, child credit. I took the child-care credit when I could. Don't pay taxes on my "income" that's deducted pre-tax for health care and for my retirement. Heck. They're teachers, and there's a deduction for the money (up to $500) for what we spend in our classrooms.

How horrible. I and my coworkers are trumps.

Some of them in larger houses even have a home office they only use during the 15-20 hours a week during the school year when they're working but not in their classrooms. Doing grading, lesson prep, that sort of thing. They deduct the utilities, etc., for that part of their house. They're allowed, which means it's wrong. More foul trumpery using trumped up deductions.

We're not as virtuous as most DUers, I guess--the chumps of the USA. You know, they're the virtuous people who don't take the standard and dependent deductions, child care or child tax credit credit. If they're self-employed, I'm sure they don't deduct the FICA contribution, because as good DUers we are to maximize the amount of tax we pay. If a DUer has a businesses through the kindness and hard work of his (her) patrons, they don't dare declare losses. "Why, I lost $50k last year on my store, I'll resist claiming the loss and insist on paying taxes on my gross revenues and be ou 90k instead, because I'm a giver and not a taker." A bankrupt giver, of course, subsidizing all those trumps who dare to take deductions and tax credits. The immoral, unpatriotic slime.

Because if we don't pay all we can pay and dare to deduct all we can, we're Trumps.

Horrible dichotomy there--we can be trumps or chumps. Silly me, I thought I took the deductions allowed because it was something allowed, not carrots to tempt me, apparently an ass, from the strait and narrow into the wasteland of flagrantly anti-social behavior.
