Report: Newsweek Attacked by Hackers After Negative Donald Trump Story

Source: Mediaite

by Alex Griswold | 11:03 am, September 30th, 2016

Newsweek reporter Kurt Eichenwald tweeted Friday that a negative story about Donald Trump was temporarily down Thursday night after the paper’s website was attacked by hackers.

Eichenwald reported Thursday that a company controlled by Trump took steps to invest in Cuba in the 1990’s and took business trips to Havana, a violation of the U.S. embargo. But late Thursday, Newsweek‘s website went down entirely.

At first, Eichenwald announced that that website went down because of high traffic. But half an hour later, he said the site was attacked by “hackers.”

Last night, @Newsweek crashed from flood of ppl trying 2 read story about Trump breaking Cuban embargo. It’s back. https://t.co/BLWD7ga1BZ

News: The reason ppl couldnt read #TrumpInCuba piece late yesterday is that hackers launched a major attack on Newsweek after it was posted.

ON EDIT: before someone' lectures me on how this was not an email hack but an effort to take Newsweek's website down, I'm being snarky.

If Trump is owing Russian gangsters, then it's probably the hackers used by them. And he either asked them to do this OR they did it to slow down any discovery of a Russian connection. I know we like to think Putin is behind all this, and I wouldn't doubt a connection, but I don't think, even if connected, that Putin is putting all that much effort into unreliable Trump. But gangsters would want money milked from this campaign (and whatever he can get afterward, like a tv show, book deal, etc.) to be funneled their way. And would help out in order to get what they're owed.

As it is, I', still very nervous about them stealing the election. Our machines were designed to be hackable and Russia could exploit that to put their patsy in charge.

The DNC hackers used the Russian cyber curtain to hide their identities also.

But, if Putin drops the curtain, they will all get caught! Keep up the pressure and we may have a roundup.
