Trump campaign says it did not invite Gennifer Flowers to Monday's debate
Source: CBS News
Donald Trumps campaign has not invited Gennifer Flowers, the woman who said she had an affair with former President Bill Clinton before he took office in 1992, to attend the first debate in New York Monday night.
Both vice presidential candidate Mike Pence and Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said on separate shows Sunday morning that Trump had not seriously extended an invitation to Flowers.
Gennifer Flowers will not be attending the debate tomorrow night, Pence told Fox News Sunday.
The entire issue arose after Trump tweeted about Flowers on Saturday, in response to the news that Clintons campaign had issued a front-row invitation to billionaire investor Mark Cuban:
If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Gennifer Flowers right alongside of him!

(81,367 posts)Hillary's highest public opinion poll numbers came as her husband was going through the whole Monica thing. I don't think she's gotten numbers that high since, even in good times.
And this is liable to irritate women voters even more. I've heard it said (by some talking head awhile back) that Trump's problems with women stem from the fact that he reminds too many of them of their ex-husbands. And not in a good way.

(9,148 posts)She is no better than he is. Trump is surrounded by assholes.
On the other hand Cuban has publicly supported HRC and donated to her campaign.
Flowers was in it to asist Trump in humiliating Clinton.
This is one of the stories that gave Kellyanne her claim to fame. She is a perfect dirty-player match for Ailes.
Guess where this b.s. started.
Remember, the Flowers & Paula Jones stories were dug up to humiliate Bill Clinton. As to date, there has never been any proof of either affair taking place.
Another unsubstantiated story that Rove dug up and shoved out to the media for one purpose only. Have we heard from Linda Tripp yet? She too was well paid for her "set up & leak".
If the RW cannot find damning dirt they will create it. Just the same way they created Trump.
I've read news stories today that refer to the Flowers claim as "alledged". Because that's all it ever was.
Same shite different day with the "vast RW Conspiracy", just like Hillary called it back in the 90's.

(9,148 posts)That's my point.
Anyone who believes BC had affairs with all those women is buying the lie that was Rove's "vast RW conspiracy."
It isn't a big secret anymore as to what Rove did & why his crew did it.
As for Flowers, she had no regard for BC's wife & daughter.
She is as culpable as BC is.
Once is innocent..12 yrs is cold and cruel.

(1,242 posts)"As it turns out, some of the most serious damage to Bill Clinton's Presidency came not from his high-profile political enemies but from a small secret clique of lawyers in their 30's who share a deep antipathy toward the President, according to nearly two dozen interviews and recently filed court documents."
"While cloaking their roles, the lawyers were deeply involved -- to an extent not previously known -- for nearly five years in the Paula Jones sexual misconduct lawsuit. They then helped push the case into the criminal arena and into the office of the independent counsel, Kenneth W. Starr."
"The group's leader was Jerome M. Marcus,"
"George T. Conway 3d, a New York lawyer educated at Yale, shared Mr. Marcus's low view of President Clinton. When the Jones case led to Ms. Lewinsky, Mr. Marcus and Mr. Conway searched for a new lawyer for Mrs. Tripp. Mr. Marcus and Mr. Porter helped arrange for Mrs. Tripp to take her explosive allegations to Mr. Starr."

"Conway isn't the only person in her family who has worked to take down the Clintons. Her husband, George T. Conway III, a lawyer at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, was behind some of the most bitter lawsuits against Bill Clinton in the 1990s and stories that were promoted via the Drudge Report."

(37,540 posts)Except for Newt Gingrich and Bob Livindstone...who were running the Clinton House impeachment while having their own personal affairs. Difference was the Clinton's are still on their 1st and only marriage. The depth of hypocrisy of anyone who identifies as a Republican surprises me no more. I've seen them in action since the late 60's.

(9,148 posts)This is why I have nothing but utter disdain for the cruel stunt this weekend by Trump & G Flowers.
Both are nasty dispicable people and deserve to be mocked & humiliated back for what they have lain on the shoulders of Sec Hillary Clinton.
I have worked my heart out this year for the election of Hillary Clinton. She has more than earned the right to lead this country as she see fit and to enter the history books as the first woman President.
Bless her strong will & her bright mind.

(11,595 posts)So now the invited Flowers is being uninvited. I imagine that would be pretty final if funding was rescinded--Flowers suddenly discovers the red carpet got rolled up pretty darn fast. Nothing like walking back an invitation that was already announced by saying it was never "serious."
Nice not-so-presidential save there, Donny, but it will not be forgotten quite as easily.

(37,540 posts)I grew up knowing Presidential types have big libido's....all kinds of tyrsts that were considered OOB...on both sides of the aisle. But the Republican hypocrites were the first to use it as a political weapon. Funny, though, today, Republican POTUS candidates don't get the same outrageous scrunity from the Party that impeached a President for having sex. Why? BECAUSE, IOKIFAR.
pandr32
(11,595 posts)...as long as there is something in it for her.
I read the story of "the affair" that likely wasn't. Ms. Flowers was an acquaintance, but she willingly allowed herself to be "used" by a Republican operative (Nichols) who got her to call Bill Clinton up out of the blue and try to get him to say something/anything that could be used against him on tape. He was pleasant, but never said anything that proved an intimate relationship, and definitely did not sound like a party in a long-time affair. That didn't stop Ms. Flowers from selling her crafted infamy to the tabloids.
We are not perfect people, but the difference between the Clintons and their Republican witch hunters is that the Clintons do have family values, and even though they might have had some bumps in the road they have stuck it out and built quite a remarkable life as a couple. They have been dedicated parents, are now dedicated grandparents, and they care about children and families all over the world. They walk the walk.
