Authorities in Georgia have issued an arrest warrant for Jackson police Officer Sherry Hall for allegedly lying about being shot by an unidentified black man while on duty.

Officer Hall previously claimed that she approached a black man on September 13, only three months into her new job, when things quickly went south. As she questioned the man, things became hostile and he pulled out a gun and shot her in the abdomen before successfully fleeing the scene. Authorities said that if it weren’t for her bulletproof vest, she would have been critically injured.

On Friday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations ended their 10-day probe into the shooting and announced that they believe Officer Hall has been lying about the incident. They stopped short of suggesting that she shot herself.

“The investigation has revealed that there is no, and never was, a suspect at large in Jackson, Georgia,” GBI Special Agent in Charge Joe Wooten said at a press conference.

They don't seem to need such stories as motivation to shoot innocent black guys. nt Gore1FL Sep 2016 #4

Literally two days after her "incident" another police officer was acquitted on a shooting he did back in late March. Now I'm by no means trying to say there's a correlation there, between the two incidents at all.

But it may explain why they ramped up their investigation. It took a whole 10 days for them to determine that she was not shot by someone and filed the arrest warrant. Imagine: department that just acquitted a guy for murder needs to punish someone, so they pick the nearest candidate.

The GBI did their investigation against the first officer March 31: https://gbi.georgia.gov/press-releases/2016-03-31/gbi-investigates-officer-involved-shooting-jackson-ga

It went to a grand jury and he was acquitted, taking months of special care.

This lady gets roasted in 10 days and an arrest warrant is made: https://gbi.georgia.gov/press-releases/2016-09-23/gbi-secures-arrest-warrants-jackson-police-officer

Very cute, imo.

(BTW: couldn't find any killings by police in that 10 day window so fortunately, as least as far as I can tell, her lie didn't result in the death of any happy trigger cops wanting to take down a "black guy." But failure to confirm doesn't mean it didn't happen in that time period, as right now most stories are coming up with her arrest.)

... how does the GBI work it out that she may not have shot herself? Maybe not willfully, but I don't see a third option...
