Donald Trump: Hillary Clinton's secret service detail should disarm, 'Let's see what happens to her'
Source: Guardian
Mere hours after he appeared to put one of the oldest criticism of his presidential campaign to bed with the acknowledgment that President Barack Obama was born in the United States, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told supporters that his opponents Secret Service detail should disarm itself due to what he characterized as her opposition to the Second Amendment.
Take their guns away, Trump said of Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent. Lets see what happens to her.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Miami, Florida, Trump criticized Clintons stance on gun-control issues, characterizing her stance as wanting to abolish the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, which protects the right to keep and bear arms. (This claim has been debunked.)
If Clinton were truly as anti-gun as she claims to be, Trump told the audience, her Secret Service detail should disarm itself.

That line is so old I'm sure my grandparents heard it in their day and has been said about every notable gun control advocate in the modern age.
We haven't thrown the millions of regular civilians who have said it in jail and we haven't thrown of the uncounted politicians in gaol for sedition who quipped it either.

Trump is absolutely out of line here, and in a sane world the Secret Service would be sitting him down for a good long heart-to-heart. Alas, we don't live in a sane world. If one of his nutjob minions harms or attempts to harm Hillary, then let the law do its thing and prosecute the person who acts and the person who egged them on. Leave the children out of it. Jeez.

(9,350 posts)Since he claims he supports the 2nd Amendment right to bare arms, he should disarm his Secret Service detail. If Trump was as truly pro-gun as he claims he would disarm his Secret Service detail. Donald Trump's supposed belief is that he is better off with he and his supporters having guns. So, why does he not drop his Secret Service detail and allow whatever happens, at one of his rallies, or campaign events, to be dealt with by he and his supporters?
Does Donald Trump allow people to bring guns into his rallies? Did Trump allow people to bring guns into the Republican National Convention? Are people allowed to bring guns into Trump hotels? As far as I know the NRA did not allow people to bring gun to its convention. I do not recall Donald Trump demanding the NRA allow people to bring guns to the NRA convention.
Why should the person who wants highly trained law enforcement equipped with the proper tools to prevent violence give up her Secret Service detail? Her Secret Service detail seems in line with her beliefs. However, a Secret Service detail may not be necessary for someone who claims if he is armed he can defend himself.
