Pence criticizes Putin, but says he’s still stronger than Obama

Source: Politico

Russian President Vladimir Putin is “small and bullying,” but that doesn’t mean he is not stronger than President Barack Obama, Mike Pence said on Saturday.

Days after saying it is “inarguable” that Putin is stronger than Obama, Pence sought to counter criticism that the Republican presidential ticket is too praiseworthy of the Russian strongman.

“Now I heard the other day that Hillary Clinton’s running mate, your senator, said it was unpatriotic for Donald Trump and I to criticize the president’s record on foreign policy or say that some other leaders in the world were stronger on the world stage,” Pence told a crowd here at the Liberty Farms Festival. “Well, Tim, when Donald Trump and I said that the small and bullying president of Russia was a strong leader on the world stage, that wasn’t an endorsement of Vladimir Putin, that was an indictment of the weak and feckless leadership of this president and your running mate. America is stronger than Russia, America’s system is superior and better than Russia in every way, it’s time we had a leader who would command the respect of the world and lead on the world stage with American strength.”

Trump said Wednesday that Putin has been “a leader far more than our president has been a leader,” and Pence defended the remarks in an interview Thursday.

why don't they just move there already? We all know that in 2003, they were the ones saying "America, love it or leave it" to anyone who protested Bush or the Iraq war.

Of course, most of them probably can't even find Russia on a map.

Remember when Repubs used to call Dems "pinko leftists"? Now we have a Republican Presidential candidate who sing praises for two leaders of communist (or a former communist) countries; Putin and Kim Jong-um.

Only with Donald Trump, through his crazy followers, could it happen. Not much of a question as to their respect on the world stage, when it's President Obama VS. Vlad Putin. Our president has pretty much had more respect in the world, than with Racist rednecks in his own country. Trump will fold against any strong national leader. Mexico told us a great deal: hunching down, then turning around as a ranting fireball to his lap-dog followers. Even Kim Jong Un, an immature but VERY scary brat, has his number. Trump is such a fool, but his followers will stick to the bitter end.

there are TWO jackasses running on the Republican ticket for President and Vice President. Both dumb as a bag of dirt. If Pence thinks Trump would command or deserve the respect of the world leaders he totally out of touch along with the Donald. We have to VOTE on November 08th so these two men come no where the White House.

...also by prison. But of course. Also dopes his Olympians. I could go on.

This is why we call dictators "strong-men."

Last time I looked, this is the US, where we still have a Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Some of the UKIP types here are great Putin fans.

Well, I suppose my more conservative friends were right when they told me in 1983 that if I didn't vote for Thatcher, we would end up appeasing Russian dictators. I didn't - and it seems that we are.
