Minnesota Dems sue to get Donald Trump off the ballot

Source: CBS News

Minnesota Democrats filed a lawsuit Thursday to try and get Donald Trump’s name removed from the state’s ballots, according to multiple reports.

They argue that the state’s Republican Party failed to nominate 10 alternate electors for the state’s 10 electoral college votes at their state convention in May.

State law says that electors and alternate electors must be nominated at an official state convention.

They did not follow the laws, they should be forced to beg to get Trump and Pence on the ballot. I have no doubts that they will be on the ballot, because it's the right thing to do, but the GO should be fined heavily and warned that similar screw ups in the future mean no candidates.

If they manage to keep them off the ballot, it should translate into down ticket pick ups.

to succeed.

I guess I care about how things SOUND to everyday Americans. This can so easily be spun against Dem party as a whole. In NC we're stuck fighting hard for every vote.

The only reason why this is an issue is because the Republican State Convention simply forgot to appoint a slate of alternates for electors and no one noticed it until it was too close to the deadline to simply reconvene the convention and appoint some
