Republicans warn that Trump’s critique of Clinton’s ‘look’ fuels accusations of sexism

Source: The Washington Post

By Matea Gold and Jenna Johnson September 9 at 6:00 AM

Donald Trump claims that Hillary Clinton lacks “the strength or the stamina” to run the country. He questioned in a tweet this week why the media was not covering a coughing fit she had at a rally in Cleveland. His party’s chairman scolded her for not smiling enough.

And Trump insisted that the former senator and secretary of state does not resemble a commander in chief: “I just don’t think she has a presidential look.”

The escalating attacks by Trump and his allies on Clinton’s vigor and appearance are providing new fodder for critics who say the real estate developer is trafficking in sexist stereotypes and fueling false Internet rumors in attempts to undermine her image with voters.

Many Republican strategists warn that the approach is perilous for a GOP nominee who already has low standing among women across the political spectrum, saying his jabs could resonate in a negative way for those who have encountered similar put-downs from men in their own lives. For women who “have had to put up with inappropriate suggestions about their appearance or stamina, it probably doesn’t sit really well when they come out of the mouth of a presidential candidate,” said GOP pollster Whit Ayres, who is not supporting Trump.

Trump would be too worried about his wig coming off and I just don't think he could last more than 2 minutes.

5. So their main problem with it is how it may be perceived by potential women voters?

Not that it is sexist. Sexism is OK, as long as it is not recognized as such by women voters.

although the 2 are obviously birds of a feather.

GOP women should look at what just happened (and continues to happen) with Faux Snooze and the treatment of their GOP-aligned female employees.

He thinks that Russia will steal the election for him so he doesn't even have to be likeable to any except the white nationalists and other racists. They love his hate, don't care if he's a criminal or crook, just so long as he gets rid of brown people, that's what they truly are hoping for. Or - if Russia doesn't do a good enough hack, his folks will terrorize the country and steal it for him. He's setting that up as strongly as possible warning of riots and the whole thing coming down, to encourage the losers to destroy everything if they don't get their way.

At least that's my paranoid read of the situation. Hope I'm wrong, but it's sure looking that way to me.
