Wetterling suspect leads officials to unidentified remains
Source: Star Tribune
Authorities recovered unidentified remains this week after Danny Heinrich, a suspect in the disappearance of Jacob Wetterling, agreed to cooperate and provide information, according to authorities.
KSTP first reported that the remains were found at an undisclosed location in central Minnesota and that DNA tests are currently being conducted to determine if they are the boy's remains.
"Our hearts are broken. We have no words," Patty Wetterling, Jacob's mother, texted to the Star Tribune.
She later told KARE 11 Saturday morning that Jacob's remains have been found. "All I can confirm is that Jacob has been found and our hearts are broken. I am not responding to any media yet as I have no words."

(57,472 posts)One of the few TV channels I get (I get TV over the air, with rabbit ears) runs one of those "Unsolved Mysteries" shows one after the other on Saturday nights, I think. They're usually hosted by Bill Kurtis.
One of the episodes was about another child abduction, and it brought to mind this one. I had thought that the remains had been found years ago. I was wrong.
I Googled "Jacob Wetterling." I see this suspect has been in the authorities' crosshairs for quite some time.
I suppose the parents knew this was going to be the outcome. That doesn't do anything to take away the sadness.
