Vice president to stump for McCaskill in Kansas City next month
Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch
"Vice-President Joe Biden will attend a Kansas City fundraiser for Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., on July 9, McCaskill's campaign announced today.
The appearance may counter Republican claims that McCaskill has been trying to distance herself from the White House, based on her decision not to attend the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
Like me, Vice President Biden has always worked to achieve common sense, compromise solutions to the challenges we face, McCaskill said in a written statement.
The fundraiser will be held at a private residence.

What benefits does she get going to the con instead of campaigning in MO during the con?

(194 posts)If she wants to be a Pub treat her like a Pub with "Dems" like her we don't need Pubs.
I am of the opinion that the Democratic Party would be better off with out the likes of McCaskill and the rest of the Blue Dogs.

(10,530 posts)Or move to MO and help them find progressive candidates. Have you seen of the Repuke candidates in that primary?

(194 posts)the place is a s__thole IMHO.
If she is the best the Dems can do in MO, then the Party would be better off giving up the seat.
OR better yet, the Blue dogs should form their own Party.

(194 posts)your vote no longer matters in the new CU world.
We have the same problem the Founding Fathers had with one corporation, except we now have multiple corporations causing problems.
It will take much more then voting to change the power structure.

(5,044 posts)And exactly what options are you considering for overturning CU?
I see two.
1) The SCOTUS overturns their decision.
2) An Amendment to the US Constitution.
Incase you are not familiar with what those two things require, here is a small description.
A) The current court can simply overturn their decision. If Justices refuse, you can impeach them if you have 66 Senators who will vote for impeachment. Additionally new justices have to be appointed, this will require impeachments and appointments to be done within the same Congress.
B) The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures.
Either way, you need Senators to achieve your objective no matter what!

(194 posts)who are easily bought by corporations?
Good Luck with That!

(5,044 posts)How exactly? What are the steps you propose to amend the Constitution?
KatChatter
(194 posts)Start all over again, rip the Constitution to shreds and start anew.
Meaningful change will not happen under our current laws.

(129,524 posts)then the President would have been impeached and convicted on trumped up nonsense, the Attorney General would be gone, the Dept. of Education and Commerce would be gone (along with NOAA), the Dept. of Energy would ge gone, EPA would be eliminated, and every single social support system put in place over the last 80 years would have been completely gutted. Gone. Not trimmed. Not cut. Eliminated. HHS would most likely be on the road to elimination as well.
There are degrees of among the blue dogs and she hasn't quite reached the level of LIEberman or Landrieu or Manchin.

(194 posts)the people would have had a clear choice of the countries direction and your what if would not have happened.
Both parties pander to the corporations now because of the third way.
If you want the people on your side you have to abandon the corporations.
